Robert Guerrero fought the wrong fight early on

He tried to box for the first 4 rounds but was getting picked apart by Thurman.

He then made the adjustment and went to plan B and to fight coming forward but it wasn't until rounds 10 after he got hurt where he really tried putting the pressure.

I'm not making excuses at all but it was obvious.

Thurman is ready for big time though but there are still questions. THe fight would have been different if Robert was more aggressive from the get go.

It Ghost was more aggressive from the beginning he could have been stopped early. Thurman is dangerous especially early on, Guerrero had to wait until Keith gassed a little bit to turn it up and even then it was a last ditch effort because he knew he was losing badly.

What kills Guerrero is he doesn't have a damn jab. That could make up for his slow footwork. He was also trying too hard to land one punch at a time

I really thought he would fight that way from the beginning

Fully agree. It's hard for Thurman to hurt you when you're slamming him into the ropes. I expected Guerrero to bring that the whole fight but he seemed to think he could clip Thurman with counters.

To me it looked like Guerrero was sitting and waiting to nail Thurman coming in with one big shot and follow up, he landed some good clean shots here and there but Thurman always kept up with more

I mean he did take it to the trenches and traded with Berto and round 10 or whatever round after the knockdown reminded me of the Berto fight as it was in a phonebooth and brutal. Like others said he had to wait for Thurman to tire a little and lose some aggression so he could come out and attack

I agree. He didn't implement his game plan till late in the fight. Robert has always been a slow starter and it affected him tonite..

I still cannot believe he got the Mayweather fight.

    A very average 147 fighter.

I was saying pre fight Guerreros only shot was to maul Thurman. I think Thurman's power had a lot to do with Guerrero not coming inside earlier.

Guerrero should have went to war with Run Time and he could have possibly stopped him based on fatigue alone, it took being dropped to wake Robert's ass up and fire him up.

His lack of a basic 1-2 is what cost him this fight

His instincts kicked in. The safest thing to do against a devastating puncher is smother him. Guerrero happens to have a really good inside game.

Once he was hurt, he went into survival mode. since he's a natural fighter, that meant getting right up on the other guy and tearing into him, which is really the safest thing to do. I thought he swept the final 3 rounds, and if he would have started out that way Thurman would have been forced to move and wrestle, wearing him down.

I think Guerrero really just fought a poor tactical fight. It may be because Thurman came at him right away, probably anticipating it. Either way it was a great fight.

I REALLY want to see Guerrero vs. Maidana. Thurman vs. Brook would be excellent.

On the Thurman subject, I think he is very good.
