Based on his last 2 performances I'd say Guerrero takes it. He is a very big strong LW with a big reach and I can see him keeping Diaz at bay for a while. But Juan Diaz had no quit in him and he would make it very competitive. I'd take Guerrero by decision but to be honest I haven't seen Juan Diaz fights in a while so it's not that easy to say.

Both beat the hell out of Katsidis. Diaz beat a fresher version, but I think this would be a really competitive fight. I might lean towards Guerrero if he fights at the very top of his game and utilizes his skills and jab at a distance. Diaz would really make life tough for him though with his pressure.

Agreed. If Diaz had KO power, it might be inclined to give him a better chance. But Guerrero would be too much for the Baby Bull.

It was the same version, only Kat was more aggressive against Guerrero. Also Guerrero shut him out, whilst Kat was able to win 3-4 rounds against Diaz.

It would be a competitive fight, you can't pick an obvious winner.

I don't get u... His prime obviously ended when he moved up. He has retired so it's a fantasy match up.

The guy is still in his 20s.. Save all the past you're prime talk for fighters in their mid 30's.

Just being honest.. He was never really "that good".. Thread title should read "Pre-Marquez Juan Diaz v Guerrero".

He moved up to fight Paulie Malignaggi twice, no one else. You telling me 24 rounds against PM left him a shot fighter?

Personally, I believe he lost all motivation after the Marquez loss, couple that with being a full time student.

The word "prime" gets thrown around too much.. No such thing as a "Prime Vargas", the skills didn't fade, Tito Trinidad just totaled his chin, and the poor ******* signed up for a few more fights until their was nothing left.. Not to mention him also losing motivation.

You obviously must be a novice to the sport. Age means NOTHING(or little) in boxing. Its all about mileage.

Diaz & Vargas were both borderline washed up by thier mid 20's.

Wilfred Benitez was SHOT by his mid 20's.

Learn something about boxing before making a statement like that.

Tito just totaled Vargas' chin? Dude are you a total ****?

These are guys getting hit in the HEAD. Its gonna have an effect on your entire body after awhile.

Granted.... Vargas' back problems had something to do with him fizzling so fast, but the beatings at the hands of Tito, then DLH had the biggest effect on him.

Prime Version was Diaz Pre KTFO from JMM...

THat changed him, he went on to lose twice to Paulie... CHanged his style completely.. became more of a boxer, well tried to. He didn't like to exchange anymore, balls to the wall unleasing hard shots like he used to... The KTFO made him afraid of going toe to toe which is why he was named baby bull coming at you HARD, but that didn't apply anymore post JMM 1...

If you see How diaz fought Pre JMM 1... and After world of difference... to bad for that young lion he was unable to bounce back

    More excuses for young fighters.

Come on, prime? Vargas, Diaz.. They just crashed and burned. Just not fair to say a "prime Vargas/Diaz" if they never made it that far to begin with.

When a career ends, you can't just pick a year and say "This was his prime" if the guy(s) retired in their 20s after a knockout or two

Vargas and Diaz.. They never peaked, the TKOs stopped them in their tracks. Since they had room to grow, I'm not gonna toss the word "prime" around so freely.

robert is technicaly better than diaz. diaz only comes forward, would miss a lot and get counter punched. diaz worked with a lot of hooks, that leaves room for guerreros straight crosses.
