    ...versus 6-2 pro Timur Musafarov.

    [yt]VrHFSVRr6Ew[/yt]

(no headgear, but they wore sparring gloves)

Although it doesn't count on his pro record, this marks Helenius' third ring appearance of 2015 ahead of his European title challenge in December.

It was competitive, but adding layers of intrigue, Musafarov also held Erkan Teper - Helenius' upcoming opponent next month - to a split decision back in 2013. :think He was also competitive with Denis Boytsov in Boytsov's first comeback match after the loss to Leapai.

I just watched that and Helenius is lucky it didnt count on his record as that would have been the second gift hes had since Chisora.....

He has not improved, hes easy to hit even for a small journey man, he gets out worked easy and just covers up.

If him and Chisora have a rematch Chisora beats him again.

He will certainly be no help to Klitschko to prepare for Fury!! Hes just too static and slow.

Is it because Teper, Helenius and Boytsov are not any good or this Musafarov guy is terribly underrated? He has three fights in three years if I'm correct.

Either way it highlights how poor Wlads sparring is.

Helenius, Scott, Towers. Who are they! They have losses to Chisora and Browne!!

I saw an interview on IFL with Johnny Nelson and he said the foam on the ring is very thick and soft and makes it hard to move around on so slowing the sparring partners down. Towers was also interviewed and he said a tall cruiserweight was giving Wlad problems with movement and Banks pulled him out after just a round!

Sounds more like a comfidence building excercise than a training camp for your hardest fight.....

For the thickness of the foam on Wlads sparring ring go to 4.30 in and listen for about half a minute. http://youtu.be/bnqPUI15yOo

I'm starting to wonder about that myself. The kid has arguably gone over 3-0 against those names, or worst case scenario held them all to deadlocked razor's edge contests.

He is Uzbek, though based in Germany, and Uzbekistan does have a very strong amateur program but I haven't been able to find anything on his background.

    Fan-friendly style, too.

I deffinitly watched and heard Richard Towers say that a tall cruiserweight was moving and switch hitting and giving Wlad problems and that Banks only had him in there for one round but it seems to now have been edited out! Johnny Nelson mentions about the sparring partner giving Wlad problems early in the vodeo where they talk about Tysons recent rants. He doesnt mantion about being pulled out after just one round.

They did edit out what Whyte said about McCracken being Joshuas trainer and thats supposedly because hes working with amateurs as well which you arent allowed to do. So its comceivable they edited out something about sparring so Towers didnt get in the ****.

Eh, he's still only 29. With his growing rep for giving ranked guys hell it might not be too late for him to mount a run for a Euro title or something.

    Sure they did

Didn't hear anything about sparring partners giving wlad problems in that video. And your point about the ring, it's just designed that way to make it more exhausting in camp, like shadow boxing with weights on your arms etc.
