Just watched Helenius on youtube. Looks like he may have some talent. But he does not look ready to step up to fight Brewster yet. It seems like they may be rushing him up to fast. Of course who knows how much Brewster has left.
Well, given that Brewster lost to Olukun, I don't think he has much left. Too bad, I always thoguht of Brew as a class act.
He is and will always be a class act. It's just that all those wars he has been in that have thrilled us through the years have taken their toll. I hope he has one or two good fights left in him and that those don't damage him beyand repair for later in life.
Brewster's gonna kill this dude. He really needs a good 10 fights or so before stepping up to this, even though Lamon doesn't have that hook that he used to..
Thats all he ever had, aside from a good chin and heart. That said, Brewster is past it and I expect he loses this one and realizes its time to hang em up. He can block punches with his face with the best of 'em, but he doesn't have the offensive tools anymore to be a big threat.
Poor Brew...man, such a nice guy still fighting to earn a paycheck. I hope he can still function when he's 50.
Brewster is shot as hell. I mean, seriously shot as hell. There's no way Brewster wins. Derric Rossy would beat the crap out of today's Brewster. Plus, frankly, Brewster was never that good to begin with.
Helenius is certainly not protected. This will be a real baptism of fire. If he beats Brewster, he will be regarded as one of the hottest prospects out there - hotter than Solis. This is a cross-roads fight for both. With the HW division being what it is, and with Lamon being a US HW with a name, I can imagine him be back in the picture big time if he beats Helenius. To me, this all comes down to what Brewster has left. Helenius is big and has solid boxing skills, yes, but he's untested. Bidenko didn't put pressure on him or test his chin and stamina. My guess is that Brewster will be there for 12 hard rds and put some leather on Helenius... we'll see.
I haven't been all too impressed with Helenius, and Brewster is a favorite of mine. I would like to believe Brewster stops him pretty early, but in all honesty I don't know just how much he has left to give. FROST are you from Finland?
On Boxrec it looks like they are scheduled for 10 rounds. Also, looks like Helenius has never gone that far before. Lots of fights less than 6 rounds. Its going to be deep water for the kid.
I wasn't impressed by Helenius beating Bidenko. Bidenko is an ok fighter but I thought he and Helenius looked very average when they fought. If Brewster has anything left he'll beat him but I'm unsure what he has left. I haven't seen him since the Wlad loss and he wasn't the same fighter then that he was when he beat Wlad. If Brewster loses I hope he gets out before he takes too much more damage. If he wins I hope he looks to cash out with a big fight as soon as possible and then gets out. He's a good guy but has been in some real wars during his career.
Extemely torn about this fight. Always liked Brew, but he is the past, and Helenius may have a real future. A lot of guys are down on his because he is not real fluid in there, but with his size, amatuer experience and power, he doesn't really have to be. Regardless of who wins, part of me is going to be happy for them, and sorry for the loser.
