Two popular prospects in the current Heavyweight scene, both are punchers, Perez is 16-0 (12 KO's) & Helenius is 15-0 (10 KO's). Helenius has faced the better named competition, in a shot-to-**** Brewster, & a shot-to-****, morbidly obese Samuel Peter. Whereas Perez has faced the always mediocre giant Tye Fields. Who wins if they fought each other later this year? Who is more likely to be the bigger achiever in years to come?

This would be a real good fight.

Perez is a warrior. A fighting pitbull. Comes on with guns blazing. Could very KO Helenius in the early rounds. I like Perez a lot, entertaining fighter.

Helenius is almost 20 cm taller and throws murderous counter-shots and can knock anybody out. If the fight would go past the middle rounds, I´d say that Helenius would win.

65-35 in Helenius´s favor. Anybody know who´s next for Perez?

right now i would say helenius. helenius took some huge shots from peter and survived. perez hasnt faced anybody with a pulse, yet.

    Perez schools him.

    Helenius has never looked impressive.

True, but how much of a "pulse" did Sam Peter have in 2011? :think

Peter was 260lbs, & had suffered severe damage in previous fights against Wlad x2, McCline & Vitali.

    Nice post. :good

I hope Perez steps-up & faces better competition soon, to test his worth.

that's true, but, peter is a veteran. would i be surprised if perez beats him, no. helenius has many defects, but, perez is still unproven at this stage of his career.

    I see what you mean...

I'd rather Perez was facing washed-up veterans like Shot Brewster, Shot Peter & Shot Liakhovich, than the competition he's actually fighting.

Cant compare Peter 2011 and Perez. Perez,a terror remind much about young Tyson.
Only question is how many rounds can he keep the pressure.

I became a fan when I saw him in the prize fighter. He demolished Gregory Tony right away, and it took several rounds for Helenius to get the job done.

that is true, but, that was after helenius knocked him silly. fighters usually arent the same after being knocked out badly

    Thanks for the info. :good

One thing is for sure, Perez & Helenius are superior to Fury & Chisora.

I echo all of these sentiments. I like watching Perez a lot more, and I think he's a better technical fighter (by a long shot), but Helenius just has so much more by way of physical tools. I have trouble seeing Perez, who isn't much bigger than Tyson but not nearly as explosive, having an easy time with any really tall fighter with a decent jab. Neither Helenius nor Fury has a great jab at this point, but they both fight tall and I just see Perez having trouble getting past them.

Let's see where Fury is in a few years though. I agree that right now Helenius is better, but Helenius was still an amateur when he was Fury's age. Both guys have been improving rapidly, which I like, but I feel like Fury has more upside. He's a hair quicker and longer than Helenius, and he's younger, and (notwithstanding punching himself in the face in like his 4th pro fight) he's a heck of a lot less awkward and robotic looking in the ring.
