I just read that Robert Stieglitz will make the first defense of his recently acquired WBO belt against Edison Miranda January 9th in Germany, where Miranda has fought well once before. People have written Miranda off much too quickly in my opinion. I believe it was due to Ward's domination of him. However, public opinion has seemed to change quite a bit concerning Ward. Ward's performance against Kessler should put Miranda's effort against him into perspective. Miranda scored a first round KO in his last fight, a little more perspective. I don't know anything about Stieglitz, other than what I mentioned above, so I won't pretend to. So, is anybody here familiar with Stieglitz, another name to add to an already deep 168 pound division? I could use a little perspective myself. This fight seems like something to possibly get excited about.

Stieglitz is competent but not particularly spectacular.

I was suprised he beat Balszay. Before that the previous time I saw him was against Wilaschek, where he was pretty uninspired as I recall.

Pretty much everyone can outbox Miranda, so Stieglitz certainly can. Berrio and Andrade stopped Stieglitz, so Miranda can hurt him. Which one happens might depend on how much Miranda really has left now.

Stieglitz is average. He can do abou everything but average. Well, average means tha he still is better in most things than Miranda who really only has a decent jab and power. Stieglitz should be the favourite, something like 60/40.

stieglitz has seemed real tough as of late. andrade gave him an ass beating that broke him down and berrio caught him with a good shot. i wouldn't say he has a glass jaw as both men are world class hitters, but i could see miranda koing him inside of five...but i can also see miranda being ko'd just like balszay.

Balsay lost only because of stamin issues.

i don't know about that. it was a give and take battle, which saw that stieglitz was the stronger mentally and psychically.

No,I agree Balszay lost because of stamian. He was comfortably ahead when he ran out of gas from nowhere.

It was later revealed he was sick so that's proly the reason.

What did I tell you guys before?? I told you Miranda and Zuniga = lose a big fight -- knock out a can or two -- lose a big fight -- knock out a can or two -- lose a big fight -- ad nauseum!! Any day now we'll hear that Zuniga is getting a shot at somebody.

miranda can put him out. but not with one shot he doesn't have the type of power berrio has. and remeber Stieglits KO'd him in their first meeting inside 11. Stieglitz is a pretty good puncher. should be a fun fight but i would favor Stieglitz by 60-40 nothing more. 55-45 at the least. miranda gots a good shot to pick p a belt here. and if andrade beats Bute you can be sure we get to see Andrade vs Miranda next HBO will make that fight quick just for the Action.

That's a myth. Stieglitz did NOT ko Berrio in the first fight. The referee did.

doesn't matter. he stopped him but berrio came back and kocked his block off in three.

now Bute ripped berrio in that corner so Stieglitz win wasn't as impresive as Bute's win over Berrio

Stieglitz seems very average to me. I think Miranda takes it, and I'm shocked that Universum is letting Stieglitz take such a tough defense without giving their other fighter (Balzsay) a rematch first.

I agree it should be a fun fight though, and I hope a US network picks it up on tape delay.

I don't think Miranda is capable of having a boring fight.
