It's usually not easy to find a decent opponent on short notice.

After pullouts by former champion Mikkel Kessler and mandatory challenger George Groves, Robert Stieglitz will now face Australian Nader Hamdan (BoxRec #52, WBO #15) on May 5 in Erfurt, Germany.

Was thinking this would end up being the fight. Pretty good to get a ranked guy on short notice. Didnt see anyone else on the ranking except maybe St. Juste being interested, and Juste is a southpaw.

Better than not fighting. Good option on short notice.

it's a world title dude; he could've postponed one month or so and get at least a top 25 opponent.

No, it's better for him to remain active - he needs to make a living. The opponent at least is ranked by the WBO at #15.

People shouldn't complain. Keep in mind, two boxers cancelled (Kessler and Groves) and they tried for a number of other replacements, such as DeGale and Stieglitz's mandatory Abraham (who wants to fight him but needs more time to prepare).

I know it is. Of course Hamdan isnt a real top25, but he is ranked 15 by the WBO. Many times they cant even get Alphabet ranked guys on this kind of short notice. Of course a postponement and a better opponent would be better for us, but it is what it is. And maybe not a viable option either (postponement)

He also got a big money-maker fight with Abraham if he gets trough this assignment.

Robert Stieglitz cannot keep postpone fights because of his opponents injuries, he surely gets a pass on this fight. Sensible move by his team!

There must be only 16 SMW fighters in the world cause this boxer had won 1 fight in his last 5. Has he arrived yet from Australia? He's fighting the May the 5th; i hope when he'll enter the ring in Germany at least he'll go down from a punch and not suddently fell asleep from the voyage.

He was actually giving His title to Kessler, Abraham or Groves so a few bucks easy defense for Robert is good for Him maybe in His next fight will lose His title.

I don't care about Floyd Mayweather vs. a shot Cotto.

However, I'm very excited about the May 5 Sauerland card:

    Afolabi-Huck
    Gerber-Harris
    Pulev-Dimitrenko

Some promising up-and-comers on the card as well: Dirks, Woge, and Graf. All three will be in with decent opponents.
