Roberto Duràn vs Edwin Rosario

Rosario also slowed down a TON when he got hurt (when watching his 1st round lost to Akinobu Hiranaka, it almost looked like he didn't train at all), watched a couple of his matches today and it's like certain fighters flipped a switch in him when they turned it up. Check his stoppage losses to Hiranaka and Ramirez.

This match up is not quite the same as recents, but there is only one winner, and it's not up for debate imo, Duran in with any fighter down the ages, with a fight weight from 135 to 147 is pretty much a forgone conclusion, some of the elites, Robinson, B. Leonard, Armstrong, etc, may or may not have the better of him, the rest it's just a case of how long the fight would go, those with sturdy chins might see the bell, the rest including Rosario will at some stage be unable to continue, whether that is due to the amount of punishment they have received, too many trips to the canvas, or a flat out KO is not certain, but succumb they most certainly will.
I have not seen many ( if at all ) fighters that leave me in awe, Duran was one such fighter, at his peak, possibly the 3rd DeJesus fight,he was a sight to behold, he looked like the devil incarnate, the dark as the night long mane of unruly hair, the youthful but soon to grow beard, his bronzed skin tone, and them eyes, coal black and devoid of emotion, looking across the ring at this Duran must have been a daunting prospect, only the very brave would not be wishing they were somewhere else, of all the great fighters , in all the divisions, Roberto pretty much stands alone as the imperious master of all he surveys, in my time the nearest would be Monzon, but he lacked the ferocity of Duran, he wasn't a cold eyed killer, he didn't hate, as Duran appeared to, this is an original thought, but I think he deserves to separate Greb and SRR, from Armstrong and Langford, outlandish I know, and as I sit here at the keyboard, I feel a warm glow of nostalgia sweeping over me, taking me back to my long forgotten youth, the great man and myself are of a similar age, I have enjoyed our journey together.

Duran stops him at some point. As I've stated befor i always liked Rosarios footwork and I wonder how his career would have played out if he weren't an addict. Same with DeJesus. Duran befor the 10th.

 

Edwin lasts the full fight but loses by unanimous decision.

 

It would be like Chavez/Rosario only worse.
