According to an article about a week ago in a daily newspaper down here in

D.R., Roberto Duran says today's fighters are nothing compared to past

fighters. He supposedly calls the so-called recognized p4p Floyd Jr.

not as good as people think because he only has fought about 39 times.

Duran claims Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be over-rated! He said back then

fighters use to fight so many times unlike fighters of today who only care

about money and not becoming any good over time. Duran said back then

fighters fought for pride and to prove who was the best, unlike today when

    they only fight for money.

    Your thoughts?:yep

every fighter thinks that the era in wich he fights is the best, when Duran was in his prime its probably that an older past lightweight fighter said the same thing about him.

that being said Duran is probably correct on this ocasion.

Pac has fought 53 times by age 30 and is still going strong.

Manos De Piedra speaks the truth.

I'd say there are a handful of guys that could have fought in any era and I think Floyd and Manny fit into that category.

Of course had Pacquiao been campaigning with the likes of Sanchez, Gomez, Zarate, and Duran. :!:

I agree. I believe Pac is one of the few throwback fighters who gets better with every fight. Duran may be on to something. Experience is definitely a key into becoming a better fighter. Back then fighters fought so many times and it was all for the love of the sport and to become better at their profession as Duran claims. Duran says fighters back then were true prize fighters. Much respect to Duran.:good

Certainly the HW division is mediocre. Scratch that. The HW division is contemptible.

Duran fought in a great era, and dominated. 70's and 80's undoubtedly the best era of boxing at lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight for me. Of today's fighters only PBF, Pac and Marquez would be up there.

Hopkins would have operated during any era and would have had a fair share of success.
