There's not a fighter today that would be given the credit Duran is given if they had pulled these stunts. Not to mention he always used the excuse that he "didn't really train" WTF? Give the promoters their money back then!

    Done.:good

And yes, Imperial. He was still the victim of the greatest KO punch I ever saw.

I think he is kind of right, but he is a little disrespectful to Floyd, i mean come on duran, PBF makes more $$$ in a month than you did in your whole carrer.

The thing about Duran more then any other fighter in History, people only take into account his wins and when he looked great. Dejessus beat Duran when Roberto was in his prime, yet Duran beat him in the rematch and rubber match. Leonard did the same thing to Duran yet everyone ignores the rematch and rubber match.

Nonsense. Hell, even Sugar Ray Leonard admitted after Oscar moved up and fought Hopkins that if had been Hopkins ruling at Middleweight when he was fighting instead of Hagler, then he would have NEVER moved up and fought Hopkins.

Duran is right, but the landscape of boxing has changed...Back in those days isnt wasnt important that fighters have 0 loses or 1 lose to sell fights. Back in those days matchups made fights todays its only about undefeated records and paper belts...Most of that is the result of PPV...

With that being said, Duran speaks with green eyes. In those days there had to fight more for pride..The only way that you would make the better paydays was to fight the best guy possible, that isnt always the case anymore.

As far as Floyd goes, I remember a interview about a year ago when Duran said that Floyd was a great fighter that reminded him of Leonard, he said the only difference was that Ray would fight whatever style the guy that he was fighting would fight then as the rounds went on he would change into the style that he was best in...I know that people change thier minds but Im not sure that he would have when from comparing him to Leonard to calling him over rated...

Great post. The reason fighters take so long to fight is cause fighters like PBF need at least 2 months to properly promote a fight & all the other factors that come into play.

Duran is great fighter but his record was somehow tarnished by that No mas, No Mas incident. I think it is improper for boxer to put down fellow boxers at the stage of his career.

:lol:That was Leonard being Modest. Leonard would have out boxed, out hustled, out foxed and hurt Hopkins.

most fighters speak the truth. So he picked one fight right. He picked a lot wrong also. Duran was great but still I think overrated. He fought the best, but if you look at his record carefully you see that he beat guys who were second rate, and when he fought the greats he lost to all of them, especially in the 1980s. Although now come the he was old at 29 years old argument.
