I'm guessing this has to be reverse sarcasm, or something weird because it's kind of ass backwards. Leonard was in his prime when he fought Duran. So was Hearns. And Hagler is considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, not a "bum".

He fought from 1967 to 2002. So count them sixties, 1, seventies 2, eighties 3, nineties 4, and then the current decade is his fifth.

Duran quit because he was being outboxed, and he got frustrated. While it's bad, it's not the same as getting an ass kicking like Oscar and Cotto did. They were beaten bloody. Duran just quit because he couldn't hit Sugar Ray Leonard. Floyd would almost certainly have beaten Duran, IMO.

whether he was a natural lightweight or not is not the point. that he lost to the atg's like Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, and Benitez is nothing to be shameful about because him being the obvious smaller man was expected to lose against them, plus they were all in their primes or close to it. you can't say the same about floyd, at least not yet. of course their not wins, but their still taken into account for even attempting to be in the same ring as them. his defiantly took on Barkley who is not an atg, but nonetheless was Hearns conquerer twice. Duran definitely wasn't supposed to win that one, but he did. any excuse you want to add, the fact remanins when we're dead and gone Duran will be a top 10 atg nevertheless.

The past decade has saw featherweights through Welterweights that were just as great as any era in history. Period.

He also lost to people like Kirkland Laing during that period of time too though. It isn't as if they were his only losses. As I have said.. don't confuse me for saying that Duran isn't a great fighter, I already recognized that he is. Just not as great as he is blown up to be.

:goodAgreed. Barrera,Morales, and even Hamed helped put the smaller fighters in the limelight again. their bravery and greatness was always there, but just not as noticed.

Duran is the most brutal, vicious and ruthless champion ever. His style was impetuous, his defense was impregnable and he was just ferocious. He wouldve ate Moneys heart.

Dominant at lightweight, moves up to welter, beats a solid welter in Palomino. Then moves on to beat SRL. That Duran, wipes the floor with Pacman and money. Everything PBF did, SRL does them better. When Duran was on, he was an ATG, no doubt about it. As for fighters nowadays making their bones in gym sparring. There is absolutley no substitute for real fights. Duran was past his prime for Benitez and Hearns. The memory of Duran beat Cuevas, Moore and the `Blade`

As for PBF , lets talk about how he would have dealt with the enormous power and presence of the `Hitman`???
