Roberto Duran calls today's fighters mediocre at best!

I agree with his sentiments regarding fighters' attitudes and mentalities, but I disagree with the comments on fighters' abilities. For me, there are guys from this era who would have been brilliant in any era - Hopkins' and Mayweather's skills transcend eras.

He faught in a great era and was a top dog.

The fact he was so competitive at higher weights and at such an advanced age is a testament to his abilities.

Honestly the way boxing is nowdays I find it hard to believe we'll get many more guys like this.

But we can't change this and there are heaps of guys now that would do well in any era.

I think I heard him say that he would have murdered Pac by 2nd round KTFO at 135 the other day. He does speak the truth.

Big deal. Pac is not a natural lightweight and he has only had one fight there. Duran is the best lightweight of all-time, he'd stop most lw's. Duran would murder him, but he'd murder loads of great fighters there. I think he would brutalize Mayweather.

He has a harder time with Mayweather than he does Pacquiao.

He would have, and it would not have been pretty for the Pacman. No shame in it, those guys were absolute beasts.

You have to remember that Duran ruled a division for 6+ years and beat Sugar Leonard. Losing to guys who fought in higher weight classes is not a knock against him. Duran was rightly crucified in the Leonard rematch. Losing to greats like Benitez and Hearns at 154...and giving Hagler a great fight and beating Barkley only added to his legend. Duran started fighting at how old??? The fact that people even say he trained or didn't train for certain fights show the admiration people have for this man. Duran is no quitter, and he was a legend. What you said above about Duran's footwork is a terrible analysis of Duran. You are talking about a man who is in the top 10 to top 5 fighters who ever lived. You are knocking duran and nobody is answering lol...:dead

Is he really all that wrong?

I mean look at all the ATGs who fought in his era. How many potential ATGs are fighting now? RJJ, Calzaghe, Hopkins, DLH and Pac. Any other active ATGs?

The Fab 4 would have destroyed all of today's fighters 147-168, including Borenard Hopkins.
