However......upon pondering this a bit further I think even the savage Duran we saw against Leonard in Montreal would have trouble with Thomas Hearns. That's the ONE guy that would give him hell I think no matter what! Duran would have to just wear him down with sheer will and intensity to have a shot--which he COULD do. But that Hearns jab and crushing right hand would give Roberto big-time problems even then!!

I liked Donald Curry but I honestly think he might get killed in this one

I think that this is the only version of Duran that would be too much for Curry and would actually stop Curry.
Another version of Duran at this weight and Curry has a very good chance of winning.

I came in to say exactly this. I think Duran would stop him at some point but he'd wear more in the early rounds than he did against Leonard. Curry was quite tight and compact inside and also had excellent handspeed and numbing power. On top of this by the time of the Starling rematch Curry had bull like strength at 147 which always gets overlooked. He threw Starling around like a rag doll at times. Curry at his best was brilliant but Duran would wear him down for me after an excellent battle.

Duran was simply brilliant against Palomino too.

Yes I forgot about that one- that would be too much for Curry.

Roberto Duran by 12th or 13th round stoppage. What I said about Donald Curry in the other thread about a fight with Cuevas applies here as well.

I like Curry, and the McCrory fight is maybe my favorite left hook ever thrown, but I’m definitely favoring Duran in this matchup.

    Just plain better.
