Let me clue you in on something, Duran wouldn't either.

 

Even if he did you trust the art not the artist. Its plain as day that Duran from the late 70s to early 1980 was Duran at his best form.

Now every fighter declined it's part of life. But it's possible to acknowledge that Duran both lost fights he should have showed up shape in. And while at the same time realizing that he wasnt in shape and had a detrimental impact on his performance. It can be both.

 

Well Benitez going 15 with both Duran and Hearns the same year proves his defense was great. At 154, not many guys could do that. He was a great fighter.. He only had one loss when he fought Hearns.

 

I never said he wasn't he's an ATG no doubt.

 

Yes Floyd has all the skills in the book. But we haven't seen it against the caliber of fighter than Duran, Leonard, Benitez and Hearns fought on a regular basis.

I can count off hand 10 tougher Duran opponents than Floyd's best opponent. Which would be Hatton, JLC, Corrales, old DLH, old Mosley and old Pacquiao.

 

Mayweather was better against Canelo than Duran was in his bouts at 154 despite him looking great v Moore, at 39 years old Floyd was also better than Duran when he fought Ray the third time at that age.

 

Irrelevant. Staying in shape year round like PBF Hopkins Froch is an asset, people who let themselves go like Hatton Duran and Toney that is a flaw and should be exploited. This all matters when looking at potential match ups.

 

Nobody could have KO`d Floyd in 2 rounds, not even Mosley.

I think we we are more in agreement here than you realize. It's absolutely Durans fault that he would get out of shape regularly after the first SRL fight. Let's make it clear it's his fault.

But at the same time, Durans condition when out of shape lowered his abilities. It's not a matter of did it affect his in ring performance. It clearly did.

 

I don`t think Floyd would open Duran up much though Duran was better at opening up defenses than Floyd.

 

Prime Leonard would beat Mayweather at Welter.
Prime Benitez would beat Mayweather at Super Welter.

Leonard and Benitez were bigger, younger, stronger, and faster than Mayweather was at those weights. The fact Duran actually got a single win over Leonard at Welter is a damn near god like task and up there with the greatest achievements in the sport.

 

Duran was one of the most accurate fighters of all time, Floyd never came up against an offensive master on the level of Duran.
