I was thinking of doing Laing, Benitez and Sims but then I realized I had watched nearly 70 rounds of Roberto Duran in 3 days and my brain just went "**** that" Edit- Cuevas and Moore too
Here's my scorecard on Duran-Sims. 10 point must system in effect. Round 1: 10-9 Duran Round 2: 10-10 Even Round 3: 10-9 Sims Round 4: 10-10 Even Round 5: 10-9 Sims Round 6: 10-9 Duran Round 7: 10-9 Duran Round 8: 10-9 Sims (scored it even, but Duran lost a point for a low-blow) Round 9: 10-10 Even Round 10: 10-9 Sims Total: 97-96 Sims First of all - great fight! Fought in tight with beautiful, clean punches on both sides. Just felt Sims was a bit busier against the aging Duran who was puffing at the end. I had a number of even rounds but when you see the long levels of infighting, you'll know why.
Pernell Whittaker and Henry Armstrong. 1. Sweet Pea will be a step ahead all night long IMO. 2. Armstrong vs Duran is a war and I can see it going either way. The two greatest infighters IMO. I think Armstrong's workrate wins him this one, on their best nights.
Sims won based on being younger and better conditioned. That bout was fought on a hot day. Duran actually hurt Robbie a few times. He was the better fighter but couldn't sustain it enough. No dispute on the verdict. Duran should have knocked Sims out.
Duran is the best lightweight ever in my opinion and on his game unbeatable at that weight. Whitaker might cause Roberto a few problems early but gets caught up with eventually. He didn't have the power to keep Duran off him. I think Williams and Gans might have the best chance.
correct, 3 divisions above lightweight! Styles only really mattered to Duran at welterweight and above, you can't compare Benitez and Pea
Armstrong was a great infighter, pressure fighter but Duran could give him the buisness on the inside too, but also have a advantage at mid-range and certainly the outside. Duran would hit Hank harder than he ever got hit in his career. Hands of Stone vs...Chin of Granite. That is too much power to get hit square for 15 rounds. Guys ran from Roberto Duran for a reason.
Duran had to much energy for Wilfred at 140, not like the lackluster effort at 154 vs an at his best Benitez
