I believe Duran wins by a wide margin in this one.
BTW I take Leonard over Gavilan too.

Too close to call, but I think Duran has the edge slightly. But that would have been the Brawl in Montreal 2.0.

 

Oh la la, a tough fight for Duran, but I see him grinding out a decision. Good enough fight for a couple more.

 

This. Gavilan was definitely better than Leonard, but Duran was a beast, so it could go either way.

Duran is ready made for Gavilan, Duran couldn't hit him in the ass, and won't be able to pace himself, Gavilan by ko!!

 

He would find his jaw though. Roberto had one of the quickest, deadliest right hand leads in the history of boxing. The Keed would find Duran a difficult target. Slipping and rolling wit Gavilan's blows and coming out punching with either hand. Duran would be right on top of him..

When Gavilan gets mentioned I always remember this old man I used to work with. His name was Ray. He had to have been over 80 years old. He took me under his wing. Like trained me and mentor all that. So we talked about all kind of things. His son played for the Super Bowl champion New York Jets. Elliot was his last name..

When I mentioned boxers I would ask him who the best he ever saw was...expecting him to say Joe Louis or Sugar Ray. He would say Kid Gavilan with conviction every time. The way he said it was obvious he saw something there. It was real.

 

Lesser fighters than Duran were able to beat Kid in his prime, and while the same happened to Duran at times, it was less often. I'm sure Kid had some gloves on during some of those, but again, it clouds the water some. I'm not seeing any size advantqe coming into play here, as that wasn't something Duran was unfamiliar with, nor not able to overcome. SRL had almost every Physical advantage against Duran in Montreal, and tried to impose his physicality at certain points got him nowhere good. It's not like Kid was some monster pressure fighter who imposes himself on his foes anyways. For me, I see this as a 8-7 or 9-6 type of fight. I see Duran being q little perplexed by Kid at first, and being surprised on how good he is on the inside. I see Duran and Arcel making the needed adjustments mid rounds that carry a fight. When fights are this close, I think aggressiveness wins the close rounds, and that would be the ultimate difference.
