Light middle. 15 rounds. Winky, one of the best light middles of recent years, facing the legendary Hands of stone? Who walks the walk?
Duran is one of my all time favorite fighter's but he was without question at his best at 135 and in my opinion was the best lightweight ever. At 154 he was still more than capable as he showed against Davey Moore but I honestly like Winky in this matchup. Winky was a big JM that was incredibly strong and durable. As great a puncher as Duran was, I don't think he is going to hurt prime Winky especially as defensively sound as Wright was. Duran is without question the greater fighter but I favor Winky in a fight at 154. It was his natural weight class for one and for two, when Duran fought at 154 he was well into his 30's and on the slide. Winky by UD behind a strong right jab and steady pressure/sound defense.
I'd have been happy to have posted that. Exactly as I see it. Age and size against Roberto. He might do it but by the time he could only get down as low as 154 he was starting to lose a few. Winky was awkward. I wouldnt want to face him if I was a considerably smaller and older man, even if that man was Duran.
Wright would jab Duran's head off without making any mistakes for him to take advantage of. Might be a shut out
It would be similar to Duran vs. Robbie Sims, except Winky was way better than Sims ever was and would win more convincingly by UD. I say Duran wins five, six rounds top by being active and zero after round 10. So close for a while and Winky pulls away.
