I always thought the way Hearns hit Duran with the right that Arguello could also.. Not as clean as Hearns, but I think Duran might bein trouble. Whitaker beats him.. Chavez loses and Castillo loses big. Floyd outboxes him.

Floyd outboxes him LMAO. Not a chance. A poor version of Duran, Castillo, beat Floyd in fight no 1 and gave him his toughest fight. What do you think Duran does to him? If we take the best versions of each, Floyd is simply not busy enough to beat Duran. Duran would take a clear points win.

Duran beats every elite in the imaginary matchups, but in the reality ones he lost to all the elites easily. That is why it is not that easy for him.. Guys like Pernell would be hell for him. Mayweather. Make him miss frustrate him and counter..

What matches did Duran lose at 135? That is the weight this thread is about.

what real elites did he fight at 135 in the level of Floyd or Shane or Pernell? I mean really? Or Arguello level. Don't tell me a guy who beat Arguello. Barkley beat Hearns, but was not Hearns.

He never fought anyone as great in ability as Chavez, Whitaker or Mayweather at 135.
    Those would be 50-50 fights.

Duran's top 3 wins at lightweight aren't a huge amount greater than Chavez's top 3 wins at lightweight, and I think Chavez only had 4 fights there !
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating but I think everyone knows what I'm getting at by now.
Duran looked amazing often, but against the opposition he had in front of him.

Chavez I think is especially underrated in this "head to head" stuff with Duran.
Chavez was an absolute animal in his own right.

Chavez vs Duran could possibly make it in anyone's top 10 dream fights. I'm creaming in my pants thinking about it.

Who did they fight that is anywhere close to Duran at 135? Or at all? Game can be placed both ways.

Beating Floyd is a tall order since Floyd wins even when his opponent is clearly the busier. Judges will then give him the rounds for clean punches. Pounding on his body like De La Hoya did doesn't seem to impress the judges much either. They see it as Floyd forcing the opponent into useless body punching since they can't hit his uncannily elusive mobile head.

If he retreats the judges see it as skillfully baiting his opponent and give him points for ring generalship. The seemingly beguiled ref doesn't deduct points for holding because he seems to assume that Floyd does it in order to reestablish proper punching distance and not because his opponent is forcing him to via effective aggression.

This is the mentality that seems to predominate among ref and Judges who are assigned to officiate at Floyd's fights and barring a knockout, makes beating Floyd near to impossible.

I agree that these two would be very hard fights for him. At the end of the day I have him winning.

Duran could knock out Tyson on the inside, but lose to a guy like Floyd.

Chavez's complete demolition of a prime Rosario matches any performance that Duran had at light weight. It weren't as if the hard hitting Rosario wasn't landing any shots either but Chavez didn't have one single mark on him at the end and looked like he could go another 15 rounds. Rosario though looked like he was going to the police station to report a brutal mugging.

I personally wouldn't call those 50/50 fights... Though Whitaker could win.

What elites did they beat on the level of Duran at 135? A guy that made #5 on Rings Greatest 80 Fighters of the last 80 years? A guy seldom seen outside respected top 10 ATG lists?
