Duran knows that Hearns knockout was so big and one of the best in history that he even has to make an excuse for it in his list.

Interesting per Duran: "Best Puncher: De Jesus was the first opponent to knock me down and he had me down again in the second fight."

That left hook punch that Curry hit McCrory with, was very similar to the one De Jesus put Duran down with.

The question would be, could a 147 lb Curry keep a 147 lb Duran down for the 10 count.

Curry at his best is faster then Duran.
And Curry was a very big welterweight.
Prime for Prime i think Curry at Welter is too much for Duran.
He is faster and the harder hitter.

We saw Duran match Sugar Ray Leonard's handspeed and power. It wasn't until she got on her bike that he had problems. Do you think Curry was as quick as Leonard?

I would make an excuse if Lloyd Honeyghan knocked me out. My shoes were too big or somethin.
I dont think being knocked out by Thomas Hearns is anything to be ashamed of.

Hard to say. Duran was tough to hit with clean punches, he rolled so well from them. Curry would have to deal with Duran's right hand lead and his counterpunching could shut a guy down. For example the right lead that dropped Carlos Palomino. He had a tough neck.

No it was not an insult on him. What I don't like are the excuses. I think the Leonard No mas fight hurt him more than the Benitez or Hearns fight for obvious reasons.

Currry was awful vs Jones, no active guard no head movement, he was getting caught coming in on the centre line, Duran would have destroyed him that night.

I thought it was a good performance personally. Jones was tough with plenty of pop and Curry outfought him.

That was not the real Donald Curry in that fight he was sick & Dave Gorman wanted to pull him out but Akhbar Muhammad insisted he fought.
Worst dats work Don ever did was listen to Muhammad & backstabber Ray Leonard

I was there that night in Birmingham & I felt ashamed to be a Brit. The way the crowd reacted throwing bottles & glasses of beer at Don. Don's trainer PAaul Reyes was hit twice while protecting Don

well the problem with that is it takes away from a great performance from Honeyghan. . Curry looked similar in his fight in March of 1986 against a guy whose name I forgot. A southpaw. Honeyghan was good and strong and a little awkward and fast.. I don't buy the excuse too much for Donald in that fight. I think losing in that fashion hurt him in his fight vs. Mike 9 months or so later. I think he need more time to get used to 154.. But Mike beat him fair and square also. Curry was good but he had this flaw of keeping his feet wide apart and not moving on his feet too much. Always being in position to counter and he was fast enough for it to work, but that style later backfired when guys started to hit him. Lloyd hit him with 3 punch combination right down the middle. We can blame that on Curry's weight, but I am not sure it fair to Lloyd who was good.

Akbar was the start of Donald sliding. Gorman was pushed aside, and Donald says Ray backstabbed him, Donald backstabbed Gorman in many ways. If not backstabbing being harsh he hit the bigtime and then pushed Gorman aside..
