Possibly, but coming up, Milton may have looked a little better than Donald.

I don't think Milton could beat Starling. Starling put a lot of pressure on guys and could punch decently. I think Marlon would eventually walk down Milton and stop him.

Because the two faced rat was claiming he was RETIRED & working as Don;s advisor. Ron wanted him BAD!!!!!!

Well Donald blew his chance to fight him by losing to Mike. If Donald wanted that big fight he should have kept winning like Ray did. Donald said Ray looked pathetic, but who is the great and who is not? Sort of speaks for itself. Ray was not a great person, but he was a great fighter. And I liked Donald, but he was not Ray Leonard in greatness and not even close. I thought Donald overdid his gripe with Ray.

Which somehow people do not admit to. And the reason Duran lost to Hearns so badly was he was fast and had knockout power. Two things Duran could not deal with in Thomas Hearns.

Ray ducked Don because he feared him. Another of my Texas friends Quincy Taylor sparred with Ray & nailed him good Ray was out but standing.
He wouldn't spar with Quincy again

I know that story, and Ray then decided to box Hagler instead of punch with him, although I have a hard time thinking Ray would have tried to knock out Hagler had Quincy not hurt him. Ray hit Marvin enough to have hurt him if he would have been able to and he didn't. Well I don't think Ray was afraid of Curry. I think Curry was not marketable enough for Ray at that point to take the risk. As Ray said when he announced his retirement after Hagler .. "I thought about maybe fighting Donald Curry, but that was for personal reasons" Something like that. He made a joke.

Why didn't he fight Don instead of Camacho ?? The Camacho debacle was for the paycheck only
Ray knew Don wanted to hurt him & I don't blame him Ray thought he was clever doing what he did to Don but lacked the balls to face him mano et Mano

Camacho had just fought Duran and he was a bigger name. In 1997 who cared about Donald Curry? Not many. Ray wanted a big enough fight to earn money and he thought Camacho would be easy enough to beat since he saw Duran do well enough with him. Do you really think Donald Curry in 1997 was as big as Camacho?

I understand. I didn't like how he wont two titles against Lalonde when he should not have won any. Although in 1997 I don't think Donald beats Camacho.

Curry was a very good fighter but he showed signs when he won the championship his chin maybe suspect when he was dropped by the light hitting and crude Hwang , Than the Honeyhan disaster confirmed it, though Curry claimed to be weight drained. Duran was light yrs better than those two even at welter when he was focused. Watch the Hwang fight. And put a motivated Duran in his place. Curry showed good foot speed in comparison to Hwang, but Duran would be able to trap Curry much more effectively. Duran's ability to slip punches while being aggressive he would force Curry to the ropes and manhandle him. Curry didn't have the chin of prime Leonard or his toughness. Duran would wear Curry out. K.O him in less than 9rds. Win convincingly.

the thing which bothers me about Duran is that he was prime at welterweight to some yet then later he was not, yet the loses to Ray and the excuse is he became washed up in those few months (yet he fought until 2001) from June 1980 to November 1980.. Matters who you talk to, but the washed up is around the time he loses to great fighters. Then he moves up 7 pounds a place he fought since 1978 and he was washed up all of a sudden also when he fights Benitez only a little over a year after Leonard. How can that be logical. It is selective to excuse Duran from a loss against a great fighter. .

Milton was a good fighter, quite a good one. He was the third best welter of his time. Curry improved dramatically extremely quickly, Milton didn't.
