you guys think when someone says Duran is limited with boxers that means a person hates them, which almost is admitting that if you like Duran you overlook his skills and say he is great, regardless of Benitez,Hearns,Leonard. I loved Duran's boxing and he has a great personality, but each time I saw him fight past Leonard one he cannot deal with fast boxers. It was frustrating since I wanted him to win. But the conclusion I came up with is that he just cannot deal with fast moving fighters and fast hands. He looked plodding when that happened.
The fact you say who has taken Floyd into the trenches. Exactly. Going into the trenches is a choice for a guy like Floyd and Ray. And they would not do it. especially Ray after the first fight. I liked Duran but there is no way I am going to rate a guy 1-5 ATG if he never stopped an ATG, and if the only one he beat was when that guy fought his fight and was still green. No way. Duran for a 1-5 ATG ranking should have beaten Hearns,Benitez and Hagler. All of them and won the rematch with Ray to be 1-5. his lightweight career and beating Ray does not do it. And Moore and Barkley were not greats at all.

 

well if we are talking facts here, which ATG fighter did Duran batter which makes you think he would batter Mayweather? Benitez? Hearns? Leonard? I mean there has to be a guy he battered who was as elite as Mayweather to show he could do it.

 

Floyd would probably duck Duran, but if they fought Duran would have a hard time winning the fight. Saying Duran would win every round is just talk. If you look at history and how Duran fought fast guys, he would not win this fight. The only reason he beat Ray was that Ray fought his fight and was in Duran's range. When Ray boxed and moved he made Duran quit. When Duran fought Benitez another fast guy he lost easily over 15 rounds. When he fought Hearns he was stopped in 2. Beating Barkley does not mean he can beat Mayweather. Beating any of the guys he beat at lightweight does not mean he can beat Mayweather. Lampkin is Mayweather caliber? Buchanan is Mayweather caliber? You guys really believe it would be the same fight? This is exactly why people have to be more objective.

when matched against other ATG fighters who were fast Duran lost easily.. They were not even fights. All evidence points to Duran losing a decision by wide margins and even Floyd doing some bolo punches. That is why Ray did the bolo stuff, it was easy what he was doing once he boxed. Duran can beat the Davey Moore and Barkley quality, but the Leonard and Benitez and Hearns he loses to easily. And Floyd would win easily. What other ATG fighter did Duran destroy or knockout? none. Which is amazing that he is rated by some at 1-5.

Not Mayweather's best weight but unless this is the Mayweather that fought Castilllo the first time. I like Mayweather in this one. Duran is going to have to catch Mayweather which is something that he is going to have a hard time doing. Just like Ray Leonard did in their second bout Mayweather is not going to stand in front of Duran.
