Duran's defense was clearly superior to Benn's and Tyson's, saying otherwise is an absurd statement. Duran at his peak was very likely the most complete fighter ever.

Bad style match up for Floyd, Duran wins 10/10. Floyd has shown weaknesses to technical pressure fighters who use effective aggression to upset his rythm. Castillo did it, Chavez did it, and even Hatton had him troubled for a while. Compared to those 3 fighters, Duran is unquestionably several classes above, his offensive arsenal and particularly his defence is so far superior it's laughable. Duran would use his feints, footwork and jab to get inside/up close to Floyd and control the fight. I think the jab especially would be effective, Mayweather seems to hesitate and back straight up when he gets hit by a one (allowing the opponent to follow up). I doubt any fighter in history was capable of beating Duran on the inside, so Floyd (who is primarily is out-boxer) who have little chance of matching him. Duran's great body work, high workrate and never-ending assualt would force Floyd into a highly defensive fight. This is somethng he has been guilty of doing in the past, he lies on the ropes and is is so foccused on negating his opponents attacks he does little in return. Against a moster like Duran he simply won't be able to keep him off.

When the fight is at long-range I can easily see Duran being very competitive. Duran is not often given credit for his boxing ability, he was able to beat Leonard on the outside at times during their first fight (who himself is one of the finest long-range fighters ever). His formidable right hand was sneaky and powefull enough to trouble any fighter. Couple that with his defence, underrated speed and ability to read his opponents punches and you have quite a dangerous long-range boxer. I'm not saying Duran would easily get the better of it at a distance, but he had more than enough to keep it close. All this considered I see Duran taking a comfortable victory.

Duran Late TKO or UD (10-5/11-4).

A prime time Mike Tyson did not get hit, have you seen his fight with Reggie Gross..

"Duran has never...never shown any of that ability defensively...like Mike Tyson did"

"Duran is no where near the most complete fighter ever..if he was..! he would not of quit against Sugar Ray Leonard"

"Just because Sugar Ray Leonard showed him some movement..and abit of rhythm"

He could not handle it...and quit.

Wrong. Chavez and Hatton didnt technically pressure Floyd well at all. Both took dozens of clean shots to the head. Both were stopped while giving minimal damage to Floyd Mayweather. The only fighter to pressure Floyd effectively were Castillo in the first fight (second fight he got clowned on) and Oscar De La hoya for the first 5 rounds.

Pressuring someone and not landing is not effective pressure. Just because you can grab someone and throw them against the ropes for 5 rounds while getting popped in the face isnt progress. Eventually, like Hatton, you get ****ed up.

Duran would bring a whole nother element. you would see Duran getting dropped in his face moving in like Hatton and Chavez. Floyd would have to box more. Floyd loves laying against the ropes and letting his opponent tire out throwing against wind and arms while the crowd Ooohs and awws thinking hte fighter is accomplishing something.

Honestly, do you know anything about boxing?

Have you seen prime Duran. Tyson got hit plenty, but he had excellent head and upperbody movement. Duran's was superior, and anyone who has seen him fight will tell you this.

You probably haven't even seen the 2nd fight between Leonard and Duran.

Seriously, your posts are just pathetic.

    1. Duran would hurt Floyd... Floyd wouldnt hurt Duran.

    2. Floyd wouldnt have time for much offence other than the odd solid counter or jab as Duran would be in his face for the full duration of the fight while - as proven in his prime fights - getting stronger as the fight goes on.

    3. Even when at range - which wont be that often - I expect Duran to catch Floyd often & I expect the right hand lead to find a home on Floyds head throughout the bout, yes, thats right all you guys that picked FMJ & havent seen Duran fight... the right hand lead will land on the great FMJ.

This is the worse stylistic match-up for Floyd at this weight, even worse than Whitaker IMO... at least Pernell will give Floyd a chance to fight to his strengths & beat him from range where as Duran whenever possible will have his head buried in FMJs chest letting rip.

Floyd will be a Duran Duran fan after this one IMO.
