Let's just say that, at both their best, Duran would beat Floyd in more fights than the other way around.

What the f&&k do you use to measure consistency? A tooth brush? If you are seriously claiming that Duran a guy who dominated the 135 division for nearly 6 years, fighting all comers, and twice avenging his only defeat in the division, is not as consistent as Mayweather who has had 11 fights in the Welter division over a period of 10 years, avoiding any perceived danger like the plague, then you simply dksab.

Lets talk about going up in weight for a moment. Mayweather's forays into the 154 division are ODH, Cotto, and Alvarez. 3 guys who couldn't hold a candle to a prime Leonard who Duran went up from Lightweight to conquer for his 147 title.

I am not even going to bother about Duran at Middleweight, because Mayweather lacks the cajones to even think about going there, unless of course he could get Cotto again.

Greatest fighter of his generation he may well be, but to mention Mayweather in the same breath as Duran is moronic to the extreme.

If we are talking about Duran from 1978-1980, he might win.

But Mayweather would not fight Duran at his peak, and I suspect would defeat him.

Duran had trouble ( lost ) with the slick Benitez, and would have similar issues vs Mayweather

Correction. He has an opinion that makes sense, yours doesn't. 72-1 is at least, if not more, consistent than 48-0 how hard is that to grasp? It means Mayweather would have to go 23-1 in to equal this feat, which isn't going to happen.

Floyd has never beaten anyone of Duran's level but the converse is not true.

At LW Duran was seemingly complete but lacked great competition. You could say the same for Floyd at 130. Duran then moved up and beat a prime ATG like no one else ever has. Floyd has beaten an ATG but not in his prime.

Floyd looks like stylistically he has the advantage but Duran has proven his level.

Harder to call every time I think of it but I go for Duran UD

It is an opinion based on statistics, and logic. Whereas your opinion is based on someone you know fuk all about.

Now tell me the numbers for championship fights and not the ones that include piles of garbage men.

You really want to compare Duran's comp to Mayweather's?? You're joking right?

I think Floyd evades and outlands him.

I'd like to hear the numbers for world title fights for Duran's first 73 and Mayweather's current career, that's all. It would be educational.

    Well stated.

I actually think that at 147 if a gun was placed on my head and I had to choose between Mayweather and Duran, I think I'd have to pick Mayweather.

Leonard and Hearns are a different story. Love him or loathe him Floyd Mayweather has proved to be the fighter of his generation.

    2 points:

    - mythical matchups are always prime for prime, otherwise such comparisons make no sense

    - if floyd has so muh trouble with the castillos and maidanas, you do not need to be Einstein to know what would happen against an animal like prime Duran :deal

If Duran had so much trouble with the DeJesus's and Benitez's, you do not need to be an Einstein to know what would happen against a technician like prime Mayweather.
