If you were to give Floyd Duran's first 70 opponents, he probably goes 70-0.

only thing floyd has over hearns is his defense. hearns has a much harder punch, much longer reach, much better snappier jab. how would floyd win? this isn't diego corrales we're talking about

I would favor Hearns over Floyd. That wasn't the topic though.

with out really looking into Duran's record now and going off the top of my head, Floyd was always conditioned so he could maintain a good pace however I dont know what affect squeezing 70 fights into a short period of time would affect Floyd and Duran had a few very tough fighters included the speedy and gritty Buchanan and Esteban DeJesus, I think Floyd was better but could have picked up a loss but I lean with Floyd. Guys like Benitez,Hearns,Leonard, Buchanan,Barkley,Hagler I may or may not favor over Floyd and fighting 70 fights takes it toll over 49 so hard to say

Buchanan wouldn't be favored over Mayweather even if he had an arm chopped off. Benitez clearly wouldn't be favored either.

Don't know about that. Buchanan beat a legend twice in Laguna who was a two time former lightweight champ. And Benitez was the youngest fighter even to win 3 championships in three different divisions.

I think there was a thread on Benitez vs Floyd and most picked Benitez so you're in the minority on this one.

Why is it b.s. and what's Floyd done since then to change anyone's mind?

I think it would depend on when they fought and l would likely favor Floyd. But l'm on the fence about Floyd vs Benitez. That's a hard call. They are both extremely hard to hit, Benitez has more power and could very well be the busier of the two.

I think most on this site know plenty about both fighters, with the exception of the young. I'm guilty of it too. I don't know the fighters of the 40's- 50's as well as l would like. That's why l enjoy reading Bert's posts so much.

Can't believe I failed to comment on the "13 quality wins" nonsense! Less than half (a third?) of those defenses count as "quality wins."
