I think Duran would give a damn good account for himself. Even pull off a tough, close win. But 160 wasn't his weight.
Great fight, 2 of my all time favourites. Duran has more to his overall game and better P4P but GGG in his prime was an avoided monster and is the naturally bigger man. GGG wins over 12 rounds is what a will say to this one in a good fight. I might change my mind.
Duran took Hagler 15 in a close fight and beat Iran Barkley for the title. This fight is closer than most assume , while Golovkin is the naturally bigger fighter he doesn't bring anything to the table that Roberto hasn't seen before. Hagler himself said he had trouble with Duran countering him after he threw his jab and Marvin has a better jab than GGG, more diverse and Hagler said Duran was the best fighter he ever fought . Golovkin is the obvious favorite but if Roberto can land with the right hand , slip and counter he could take a close decision.
I'll take Duran. Duran is an all-time great fighter who fought the who of who's. GGG is a very good fighter and beat a lot of good fighters but I don't know of any that one would call a great fighter.
Duran at his best can compete against most at 160 lbs, he's just not going to beat any true upper echelon middleweight. His best fight at 160 lbs imo was the Barkley fight, a fight I thought Barkley edged out.
Duran lost to Robbie Sims, should have lost to Barkley very close, lost close one to Hagler, Golovkin would win.
The fight depends on Duran TBH, is he coming to stink it up or he is really coming in prepared. Golovkin "could" box him to a UD, but Duran is definitely good enough on the inside to steal a win from the bigger fighter. If I had to choose, I'd say Duran at his absolute best at MW showed me more than Golovkin. I can see him thwarting Golovkin on the inside and at his best, he's already shown he's tough enough to withstand the fire Golovkin is gonna let loose.
