Duran was a lightweight who moves to MW, he was never peak there so your question is completely flawed. But he did go 15 with a prime Hagler, albeit one who didn't pressure the offence much GGG late Stoppage 13/14 It's sad that a LW would be his best win
Round 13/14? For a Lightweight that is impressive and doesn't really flaw my question does it? Plus he fought at Super Middle weight too against Vinny Pazienza
I know but thats because Duran was a beast. You said at his peak, at Duran's peak he was about 25lbs lighter than GGG
I see sorry you're right my question wasn't clear. Thank you though. Duran, one of the GOAT in boxing.
GGG would beat Duran at middle, he had less flaws and more power and reach. He would out-jab Roberto.
Points? You think Duran had a chin and a body resilient enough that could take GGGs power shots for 15 rounds?
Duran was a hell of a fighter and he had a hell of a chin. I think so. He wasn't the sort to barrel in on guys. If he can go the stretch with Hagler he could likely do it with GGG too.
This is a crazy matchup really. But let's take the Duran of the Hagler fight. GGG would have to pressure him otherwise he'd get outboxed. I think Duran was a superior fighter to GGG, even at this weight and past his prime but GGG had such obvious physical advantages I'm not sure Roberto could overcome them. Given GGG's performances against Canelo, his best opponent, I'd say Duran lasts the distance but loses on points.
I think GGG`s shots to Duran`s soft body could take effect though, he would land more to Duran`s body than Hagler did.
GGG by decision, 12 or 15. The Duran from the Hagler bout would be an extremely tough opponent for GGG. GGG just too physical in the end. Competitive.
Golovkin is not that agressive, doesn't go to the body against anyone good. More of a boxer puncher. Definitely goes the distance. And my money would be on Duran.
