    does the hands of stone take the tough williams out or vice versa in a gruelling knockdown dragout fight?

    Would like to see it, Ike maybe able to upset the great 1 here with his sharp punching

    :lol::lol:

    It's that type of fight. You could say that Williams might not have employed the mobility to beat Duran, but then again you could say that going right to Williams is a death wish. Who knows.

    That's the thing. Williams wasn't always in knockout mode, he was happy enough doing a stalking job, jabbing and body punching his way to a points win. Taking the fight to him was near suicide - if you watch the 1948 Jack fight closely, you see the uppercuts and hooks both upstairs and downstairs that Williams rips inside. Jack was shattered by the sixth round even before 'that onslaught.'

    That's not the only example though. Jose Gatica rushed Williams in round one and if you saw the first minute of the fight you'd think Gatica might be in with a chance of winning. He never got out of the first round - floored twice, one left hook a piece, and then for a third time with the most devastating four punch combination I've seen on film. Louis, Tyson, Robinson... Williams. He's in that category and beyond.

    Of course, there's a flipside to this. Sammy Angott, a notorious spoiler, stopped Williams in six rounds. Allegedly this was to do with a torn muscle on Williams' part, and in fairness to him, he had beaten Angott twice already. Close decisions, though... Undeniably, Angott found success, even if Williams hadn't quite reached his peak.

    Williams is not stopping Duran,I don't think any lightweight would actually.
    Duran's marvellous head movement would take some of he steam off of Ike's big shots,I like Ike to take a close dec,in the trio of fights Duran would probably grab one.
    When the talents of both fighters are so closely matched you have to look for little stylistic idiosyncracies that might make one guy vulnerable to the other.
    Thats a bit of a tall order with both these fella's, as neither had a glaring weakness.

    Nice one for the reply, it's one of the hardest ones to pick imo. Both men are ferocious inside, you might say Duran has a slight advantage in that department because well, that defense is something to behold. But that might or might not be a derciding factor here. Williams in that anticipatory mood might turn out to be a nightmare for Duran. I'd like to think Duran would enjoy facing the man who is willing to allow him to walk into him, but it's dodgy for Duran to say the least.

    Considering all the factors said here, I'll say...Williams by points. If he can match Duran on the inside, and have a slight reach advantage...it might go the other way, point-wise, if Duran focuses more on defense than pressing his attack.

    Gotta go with Duran on his Dejesus III form against any version of Ike.

    I'd favor Williams' sharp inside counterpunching and body work to carry him to a decision.
