Roberto Duran vs Joe Calzaghe

Anything above 154 pounds and Duran was pushing the issue pretty hard.... Duran was great, but at 160 / 168 pounds--he was very beatable by younger talent... Joey Calzy would be too big, talented and spry for Duran, and he win a decision over 12 rds....

It is on record! I am the biggest slappy joe hater on ESB. I detest the man, and most of his fans. However, I do try to be realistic most of the time. A prime slappy joe would slap an old half shot 168 pound Duran silly.

 

Calzaghes not that well-liked there.

For what it's worth I think Duran would give Calzaghe hassle. But Calzaghes unorthodox style would see him score more often, even if Duran felt afterward like he hadn't even been in a fight.

Calzaghe, UD, he pulls away towards the end, not landing much of significance but throwing, doing more, and being awkward and big enough to stop Duran coming up with another Herculean effort a la Barkley.

 

Of course Calzaghe would win. He's given grief about preying on past prime greats. That's what Duran was at 168. Calzaghe beats old greats, as shown.

I know a lot of you are just playing around but bloody hell Calzaghe is underated here! Calzaghe wins a clear ud. He's too big and awkward for Duran. Obviously p4p Duran is several levels above I get that. But some objectivity?
