What's the concensus here? 15 rounds.

Marquez is competitive, but loses a UD. Katsidis and Diaz could put him on the ropes, I figure Roberto would just be that bit better and pull out the win.

Is this just to give you a gauge of how much of a hard on the board had for jmm .

There isn't much jmm can compete with here. Duran is bigger, quicker, smarter, harder hitting, better timing and better defence.

Jmm is maybe better at combo punching but that's debatable.

Duran should win wide on points here.

Duran by stoppage in about 9 or 10 rounds. He'd be able to avoid JMM's counter blows more often that not and press the fight sown the stretch, doing what others haven't been able to do and finishing Marquez, who finds he can't fight off the back foot effectively and has no other options.

Beautiful fight while it's happening though. JMM would land some, no doubt about that. Duran would be too strong, and too skilled.

Assuming Duran trained for long than 3 weeks ahead of the fight, he should win comfortably. I wouldn't rule out a stoppage at any weight. Some may feel that's unfair considering nobody has ever stopped JMM before, but he has been knocked down and hurt an awful amount of times, and by much lesser punchers, and indeed fighters, than Roberto Duran.

Anyway, fact is Duran is just as adept at counter punching and far better punching off the front foot.

Duran would win this one. JMM cannot compete with Duran. A good win for Duran in this one.

Concur. I'd be surprised if JMM hears the final bell.

I like Duran in this one. Don't get used to me picking Duran. He's still overrated.
If your counting on a quick sudden stoppage by either, don't. Marquez can be knocked down, but he's a human weebles wobble. Duran while overrated. Isn't as stupid as Pacquiao. He can be outboxed and fusratted, but I don't see him getting caught like that. At least not by someone who's about the same size. Keep in mind that Hearns is bigger than Duran and one of the best punchers in the sport.
It's more likely that Marquez hits the canves than Duran.
I'm going with Duran by decision. I think Marquez will show he belongs in the ring with Duran. As a counter puncher. He gives any presuer fighter problems. I think it will be close.

Marquez is an excellent counter-puncher and combination puncher. Technically, there is no-one in my era I would rather watch throw leather.

The problem for Dinamita here is although he is all of the above things, he is not particularly fleet of foot. He tends to set himself and wouldn't be frustrating Duran by getting in and out of range. Duran isn't just going to barrel into Marquez with scant regard anyway, he had deft head movement and picked his punches extremely well.

I think Marquez does fairly well for four rounds or so, but Duran's relentless yet educated forward march would take a toll on Juan Manuel's legs. He would be wearing the scars of a tough battle by the 10th round, by which time I think he would either be pulled out or stopped on his feet.
