Who wins this bout at 154? Does Duran outbox and bully Jackson, or does the raw power of 'The Hawk' have the ability to win this fight in a fashion similar to the way Hearns dealt with Duran?

I feel it would come down to who could take the other`s shot better and who had the faster hands at light middle, Duran was far better defensively, but Jackson only has to land once as Tommy proved at light middle, problem is Jackson didn`t have Tommy`s guile in setting up his power shots and Roberto would be very wary here. Tough one.

Duran stops him in about 7...

I guess I give him as much of a chance to beat Duran, as most other poster give to DLH in that thread.

I find Jackson (and quite a few “power” punchers) to be vastly overrated by those who love power punchers and rate them highly based upon that factor?

Maybe Oscar vs Jackson is the thread I need to do lol.

It would be hard for Jackson to land on Duran. Hearns had the jab and right hand and the experience against other legends, so he knew what to do. The jab was the key to that fight. Landing on Duran a clean punch is very hard.

Duran outboxes him for a little while before Jackson lands a trademark steamroller of a punch that knocks Duran out in the mid rounds

See Hearns vs Duran's knockout but it takes a bit longer

On the contrary, a feel that Jackson is underrated, mostly because of his fights with G-man, even though he shook up the iron-chinned G-man multiple times in their first fight.

Jackson had an extremely dominant run, before he ran into McClellan, and that's forgotten by many

On the contrary Jackson wasn't a very good boxer.
Duran would take him apart. I see this playing out similar to the Moore and Cuevas fights.

The size difference may be too much for Duran to overcome.
There will come a point in the fight where either Jackson hurts Duran, or
    Duran hurts Jackson.

    The Hawk:

    height 5′ 11½″ / 182cm
    reach 73″ / 185cm

    Duran:
    height 5′ 7″ / 170cm
    reach 66″ / 168cm

    Duran.

He'd get himself in top shape for a dangerous guy like this. And he takes a superior punch of the two as well. When Jackson gets stunned or shook up, it'd be over soon after. Like consensus mentioned in earlier threads, somewhere between the 5th and 9th round.

I think the Hearns knockout was very rare. I don't think it happens much with Duran. That was unique with speed and all that. Jackson would have a hard time lining up Duran with that punch. Duran would almost time him before Jackson timed him. I like Jackson and he was a great puncher, but in this fight Duran would be hard to line up, and Jackson relied on that mistake. Hearns made Duran reach in. Jackson would not have that style. You saw how Barkley was countered by Duran. You have to make great fighters reach to counter. it is very hard. It takes another great sometimes.

I think the getting in shape stuff were excuses. He had good styles and bad. The bad were elite fighters who could fight both defense and offense. He did better against limited fighters with some weakness, but against fast fighters who could fight both he had big problems.

Barkley and Cuevas could punch too. Big-time

Power alone isn't enough to beat Duran.
What enabled Hearns to do THAT is a unique combination of attributes.

I see Duran winning a decision or a late stoppage. At 154 he was still very slippery and could punch as well

Barkley ckuld not punch like Jackson .
Anything after Hearns with Cuevas should be dismissed- he was done after the Hearns loss.
Jackson is one of the hardest hitting Jr.middles of all time.
He didnt swing wild and he went to the body well.
    Duran gets stopped in 10.
