Since they're both excellent body punchers, having a think cranium might not help. If one of them is getting KO'd I'd bet the beginning of the end starts with a body shot.
Everyone should know Duran can do no wrong on these pages. And if he does, it's only because he felt like it, and then it's not wrong, because he meant to. So there.
Lovely fight. Duran's faster, but Chavez slightly more precise imo. Very close. Perhaps Roberto's superior hand speed would win him the decision.
I believe that this fight would go 15...with a rematch, maybe a series to follow. I agree that Duran is somewhat overrated on this forum, but that isn't a crime. The crime comes in the underrating of Chavez at his best.
As an aside, I'll say that JCC is definitely the best Mexican champion...an admission I have not always been willing to make, since my all time favorite Mex has been Sal Sanchez, but Chavez just edges him out IMO.
I too agree. If he and Duran had fought, I'd pick Duran to win, but it wouldn't be a huge upset if JCC won.
Duran wins based on his boxing ability and superior speed and defense. Roberto wouldn't take the clean shots that Chavez would. He rolled and countered so well. Chavez was great and he would have his moments but Duran is a bad matchup for him.
Duran decisions JCC easily. He had a rock solid chin, he rolled with the punches better than anyone and he was a master at inside fighting. Plus he feared no one. I think he is under rated on this board. Most people on here judge him after his 72 nd fight. None of the Fab Four besides Duran fought that many fights in their whole career. In fact, after just 39 fights Leonard was being schooled by Norris and stopped by light hitting Camacho.
Easily...? No. It would be a war. Duran wouldnt dominate the fight by any means because jcc himself is an animal on the inside.
