Dont know much about their careers at 135 to make a decision, but based on duran's success at the higher weight classes vs Chavez, I would say duran is the better fighter

 

Chavez has a better resume. I would still pick Duran to win the match up.

Actually i knew about it cause lot of people forget about that big win Duran had. I guess i did too while i was putting that list up..

 

Yey looking at that list id say Chavez had a slightly better wins too,but the Leonard win was way bigger than any win Chavez had or just about any fighter period for that matter... Duran usually gets alot of credit for giving Hagler all he wanted too despite being a liw only about 4 years before that fight.

 

Duran is the greatest lightweight in boxing history!!!

 

This is how I see it too... Very underrated defense...

 

I just think you can`t pick against Duran in a lightweight war. He was a beast inside ! Knew all the subtle little tricks and dug hard to the body with either hand. I think at 135, Duran would be too physical in there for Chavez. To beat Duran, you need a Benny leonard type style... Nobody could outduran, Duran in a phonebooth warfare kind of fight.
