Julio Cesar Chavez is my favorite boxer of all time, but i have to say Manos De Piedra takes this by a close 15 rd UD in an epic brutal war. Would be a strong candidate for Greatest fight of all time.
If I could watch any fantasy fight, this would be the one. Two all-time greats meeting right in the centre of the ring and showing us the art of in-fighting. I'd take Duran to win a decision because, simply, he was the better fighter. Even if he won every round though, JCC would always be very competative.
a homo like you doesnt know jack-shitt about boxing, thats why you come up with whiny crybaby insults. You're the one that embarrasses himself, with pathetic brainless posts. I always outsmart you, left-and-right, and you're only respone is This content is protected .:| you just dont know that armstrong and srr were overprotected and kept away from kid azteca in the 40's, cause you dont know boxing. thats why kid azteca never fought for a world title, cause he was avoided for his fierce bodypunching. But what do you know. just dont post to me, cause I dont like to reply to maricones like you.
atsch dude i love Chavez, but you are just wrong, and the other comment is just so ****ing stupid, that there is no need to reply.
I know Duran is half-Mexican, just like Diego Corrales is half-Mexican too. But when people think of Duran, they think of him as Panameno. Duran represents Panama. regardless, as far as comparing Duran to JC Chavez at 135lbs, Chavez beats him. It has nothing to do with nationality. Its just that Duran's machismo was overrated, and he showed in the Ken Buchanan fight by hitting him with an intentional low blow, and with Leonard by quitting in "no mas". Duran quits and/or cheats when the going gets tough. Chavez gives 110%, Duran gives 90%.
Duran looked good at 135lbs during the 70's cause he fought non-threating opponents. Duran wouldnt stand against Chavez. Chavez had a much stronger chin than Duran and would've swallowed Duran's punches. Chavez would've broken Duran's will during the fight with savage bodypunches. Soto hits much harder than Chavez, and one-punch KO power that many just cant see. Look what Soto has done at 135lbs. Soto has scared JMM, EM, Pac, valero (when he was alive), Guerrero, Linares, and so many other into not fighting him. Just cause Rios challeneged him, doesnt mean anything, cause Rios is a young stupid teenager that doesnt know what he's talking about. Just look at Morales. Morales wanted to be the 1st Mexican to get that 4th title. So, Morales was given a shot at Soto's WBC title last year, and Morales turned it down cause he fears Soto. morales would rather skip Soto at 135lbs, and fight Maidana tonight for the WBA 140lbs title.
Yeah. Chavez was rock-solid and Duran wouldn't be able to outdo Chavez. many people are mislead by Duran's performances at 135lbs, because they dont realize that Duran mostly fought stiffs at 135lbs.
What are you talking about? Who did Chavez fight at lighweight then? I asked you earlier in this thread what atg's Chavez beat, and you still have not responded. Whats your response? I like Chavez, and think the fight would be ultra competitive at 135, despite the fact Chavez only had 2 meaningful fights there. Stop acting like Duran fought no-one, the DeJesus trilogy wins, Buchanan and several others such as Fernandez, Ishimatsu, Mamby, Viruet were stiffs? ****ing nonsense.
Edwin Rosario, Jose Luis Ramirez, among others. Buchanan was robbed and shouldve won by DQ, cause Duran hit him with a low blow. Mamby was a methodical veteran journeyman. either way, both Duran and Chavez didnt fight thet good of competion at 135lbs, but Chavez has proven to be a far more superior fighter that Duran.
There is no among others. Chavez had 2 meaningful fights between Super Feather and Light Welter. Its a fact. And neither of those are as good as DeJesus. Buchanan wasn't robbed. He was well behind on the scoring and Duran just got carried away. I wouldn't let one low punch wipe off 13 rounds of almost one way traffic for Duran. Mamby went on to become the Light Welter champion, or at least one of the best in the division, for years after his defeat to Duran. Okay, I accept you consider Chavez a proven better fighter at 135, now prove it yourself with facts! How are Chavez' wins over Rosario and Ramirez better than Duran's double over DeJesus? Go into a bit more detail, because right now, all I can see is your a blinded patriot who won't even reason with actual facts.
