-Because if it was a war, I think Chavez' chin would last longer than Durans. Just an opinion.

-I never said Duran was KO'd in his prime. I never said he was TKO'd at 135.

-I never said Chavez was the better fighter. But if I had to pick, it would be Chavez. I also said it was too hard to choose.

-It's my opinion, don't get all ass hurt. :hat

Chavez was the better body puncher of the two, but Duran was the better counterpuncher, i'll agree with that one. They were both precise punchers about as equal there. However, Duran was the faster, and stronger guy at 135lbs, and had the better defense of the two, even tho both were excellent in that department.

Im gonna have to say Duran takes this by close decision in an absolute WAR.

i would take chavez body attacks over anything duran did better.....y'all forget how important body shots would be in this fight...both can take punches all day, and both actually had a really good underrated defense....but the body punching clearly went to one guy...and i think that'll be the difference

Duran has to be favored, but I think people would be surprised how evenly Chavez competes on the inside. Duran is seen as more versatile mid-range and better at counter-punching, but on the inside, their skills might be even, and we know the fight would inevitable find itself there. This would probably be, in my book, the best fight ever.

this, duran was only down twice at lightweight. Better boxer - 10/10 times it would be competitive, 8/10 Duran takes it

One of the best mythical fights of all time, this would be a very brutal war... I give Duran the edge as the naturally bigger man with the harder punch in both hands, it would be a close fight & a close Chavez win would not surprise me... the only thing that would surprise me is a stoppage or points domination by either fighter.

Duran gets his due`s around here, JCC is badly underrated, I still go with Duran as he`s likely the best ever LW but Chavez was at his own peak at 135 (see Rosario masterclass) & nobody, not even Duran walks thru Chavez at this weight.

Liver shot vs straight right. 2 of the greatest brawlers of all time. Trench warfare at its finest. Duran uncharacteristically said "135 Chavez wins. But over 135 his ass is mine!" Lol He might of been being modest.

I personally think Chavez was more skilled in the basics of boxing, body punching and defense. His head movement was great but what made Duran the best at lightweight was his relentlessness. He was just a tornado, he wouldn't stop punching and never got tired.

I see Duran winning a brutal war.
