Duran's resumé puts Chavez' to shame. Chavez' granite chin would have been shattered by that Hearns' right hand just like Duran's granite chin was. I never saw Chavez up at 160 taking punchers from an Iran Barkley type puncher like Duran did, even though they both technically started at world-level at 130.

And Chavez never saw anything remotely close to Duran at 135. Buchanan, De Jesus x2, Hector Thompson, Ishimatsu, Lampkin, Edwin Viruet x2, Emiliano Villa, Vilomar Fernandez > Rosario, Ramirez, Roger Mayweather, Rodolfo Aguilar.

Chavez beat Hector Camacho, whom Duran couldnt beat.

Chavez beat better/tougher lighweights like Roger Mayweather, Edwin Rosario, Jose Luis Ramirez.

    All these:
Buchanan, Hector Thompson, Ishimatsu, Lampkin, Edwin Viruet x2, Emiliano Villa, Vilomar Fernandez were B level boxers that Duran fought.

Duran's win over Barkley was an off night for Barkley that night.
Barkley wouldve lost to any top fighter in that division, that night. Barkley was just not himself that night.

    You, sir, are clueless.

I'm amazed. I really am. Buchanan and De Jesus were better than Ramirez and Rosario.

How do you rate Ernesto Marcel?

Great matchup, I accidentally voted for Julio by decision but I meant Duran by decison. Chavez's chin was too good to go down

if you don't know that KT was a great fighter, in the conversation for best 140 of all times, then boxing is DEFINITELY not for you. Duran's greatness should be based on his longevity and his one great shining night, not his p4p stature. JCC beats down DeJesus 100x out of 100. Duran rarely made weight as a LW, fought lesser competition, and was a totally full sized WW when he fought the other greats and he got his ass seriously whipped, period.

Every Duran loss is because he didn't train LOL....

No. Every great fighter Duran matched up against, he LOST to, often embarrassingly badly. You don't get to count those on your resume. Also, JCC would never BE at 160 because he never grew to be that big. Does every Joe Blow featherweight who grows into a MW beat Pacquiao at FW?

Kostya was a very good fighter but not a great fighter. There are a lot better 140 pounders. My reasoning for saying boxing might not be for you is your inherent disrespect for Duran, a great great fighter. You indulge in slamming his record in a disrespectful fashion. That can be done to any fighter as I just did with Chavez to prove a point.

You reckon Chavez would beat a great boxer who was tough as old boots like deJesus every time he fought him?

Who did Chavez fight at 135 who was better than deJesus and Buchanan?

Didn't the same happen to Chavez when he fought Pernell? The only great he fought other than de la Hoya (by which time Chavez was past it.)

They're both brilliant fighters. Duran just has more brilliance.
