Duran, big. Not sure I can think of a worse fighter for Kostya to face tbh. A very good/excellent fighter vs arguably the best fighter ever captured on film, and the good/excellent guy being at a severe stylistic disadvantage. Duran by mid-late stoppage after a prolonged mauling, though Tszyu would no doubt give it his all and land some blows that might stop Duran in his tracks on occasion.
Notwithstanding the hyperbole of the previous poster regarding Duran's standing, Duran by mid to late rounds TKO. He's a few levels above Tzyu. His main advantage is defense. Also, he was free-flowing and relaxed. Conversely, Kostya was straight up and mechanical.
Duran would beat him up much worse than Cool Vince Phillips did. Duran is clearly a level above Tszyu. And Kostya would not be able to bully Roberto Duran around the ring. Duran has a way more varied offense, better defense, a better chin, and would welcome the firefight.
It's not hyperbole. When I say best I mean the most skilful, complete, talented, whatever. Not necessarily the greatest, which he isn't; a very select few accomplished more. But I think he's probably the best fighter I've ever seen, the most formidable all-round fighting machine at his peak, and I'd include Robinson in that. And I know plenty who think the same. Other than that, I agree with you.
Duran , and it wouldn't be pretty or close if he's focused and pissed off. (Which was like all the time at lightweight and welter) Duran was just levels above Tzyu. Tzyu was a good fighter but not nothing close to ATG. And Duran is on some list as he G.O.A.T. It wouldn't be a question of if Duran would stop Tzyu but when.
Ummm... where's the hyperbole? I must be missing it. The 70s Duran was easily one of, if not the best fighter that ever lived.
