Just wanna see the reaction here.

Those ESPN *******s actually had the nerve to say that Pacquiao is a greater fighter then Duran
I find it to be completely bull****

So anyway in a fantasy match at 147 who do you think would win?

I have Roberto Duran by murder in the early rounds if Pacquiao waves him in like he did with Cotto and Morales
Duran's inside fighting and chin would do it for me imo

    135lbs Duran>Pacquiao

  4. in the light weight duran would win, in the welter manny would win.
is simply stupid to say " duran would win easy" or "duran would destroy pacman" basing on?

really i think that manny is more balanced than durĂ¡n

    Pacquiao's skillset trumps Duran's.

Pacquiao by tough UD at ANY weight.

    Duran at any weight.

Pacquiao is an ATG but Duran is better. Simple as that.

I dont care what anyone says... If Duran comes straight at Manny, which I think he would, Manny has one hell of a chance to kick his ass at any weight from 135 to 147. Manny's hand and foot speed are slightly but clearly superior and his combination punching is better. I just worry about Durans toughness and relentlessness, however I dont care what you nostligic mother ****ers say, Pac has a very good shot at taking this.

  8. i agree really, the old school is overrated on this forum. not always the past was better

Considering how great Pacquiao has proven himself, it's quite difficult to overrate him. Difficult, but as this thread will show, not impossible.

Duran's ability to stay in the pocket and not get hit is overlooked.

he was a great inside fighter, but his footwork was 1st class.

prime for prime - Duran takes a hard decision.

Think this Version of Roberto Duran
(Or the 13 years or so he went undefeated w/12 tittle defenses 11 by K.O.)

Manny gets suffocated in Violence & if the 6th/7th/8th rounds against Margo are yer yardstick does anyone seriously believe that Duran would have let Manny escape brutal mid rounds beatdown as he'd have chopped Manny in half, just compare a slow plodding Margo hurting Pac & Duran's phychotic assaults on Leonard when he slipped Leonards fast left lead/hooks & smashed him into the ropes & there's only one obvious outcome..Duran TKO or KO..he'd cripple Manny & once he's got manny semi-static then it's over...if anything i recken Roach would jump in with the towel & i'am a 100%+ commited ******* who's done the 11,000 mile round trip too see him at The MGM in Vegas & roar him on twice against Hatton & Cotto:yep

The difference is their defense. Duran's is better, especially for infighting, because he doesn't back up much, rather he slips punches and fires back immediately. I also think there's a noticable difference in power that would favour Duran, as well as an ability to take a punch. Duran proved he could take the punch of middleweights. As the highlight video shows, I think Duran is simply on a higher level than Pac, and that's no disrespect to Pac who is this generations best fighter.

Well what I think is that the so called "old school" may have actually watched both fighters fight.

I know I did, and so we're in a better position to evaluate both fighters based on what we saw. Most of the posters on this forum are in their 20's and most of them have never seen Duran fight.

Pac's got a great, great tool kit, he's fast as hell, has a decent amount of power, is a southpaw, likes to fight on the inside and is tough as nails. Unfortunately, Duran is the one fighter who's inside fighting game is better, and who has more power and a better chin.

One also has to consider that Duran is naturally the bigger guy, which would be a bit unusual for him, considering he's a lightweight who spend a fair amount of time fighting welterweights, light middleweights and middleweights. But he's no Cotto or Margo, that Pac would be facing, that much is for sure, there's a huge difference in talent between Duran and those two fighters. Huge.

You can't seriously suggest that Pac would have a hope in hell of being Hearns can you??

    Get real.

And if he ever fought Hagler he could very well be crippled for life, or worse.

Look Pac's a great fighter and I don't like knocking him, it's just that a bit of reality is required once in a while. Next we're going to hear how his speed and great infighting ability would allow him to beat Lennox Lewis, and by this post we can see that we're about 1/2 way there.

But I do happen to think Pac could be Mayweather and that's he well on his way to being an ATG, I just don't think he can catch fighters like Duran who are top 10 maybe even top 5. But if he beats Mayweather convincingly he'd be damn close to cracking the mythical top 10.
