Roberto Duran vs Mayweather

I would bet on Duran at lightweight to best Mayweather. Not many boxers in history could defeat a prime Duran or Mayweather for that matter. Duran imo would stop both Corrales and Castillo. As great as Mayweather is he has never faced anyone as good as Duran, whereas stone hands fought everyone there was in a stellar career. As a lightweight Duran was defensively deceptive, great head movement, he got caught more than Floyd does but rarely with clean punches. His attacking skills consisted of a solid jab with deadly punches. He worked opponents bodies then followed up to the head. His stamina and workrate at lightweight were intense, he pressured his opponents while not taking many shots in return. He could cut off the ring for those who tried to move with him and it was rare that opponents could challenge Duran toe to toe. Mayweather would never be able to stop Duran. I would bet Floyd's defence could be breached by a prime Duran in a fascinating contest. I also believe Duran at lightweight would stop Manny Pacquiao in a great match up.

As good as they were they were not on Durans level in a million years. Oh, and I think you need to go and watch Mayweather vs Castillo 1 if you think Mayweather kept Castillo pretty honest. Mayweather should have had his first 0. There was nothing 'honest' about that fight.

What version now you are meaning?prime duran at LW against prime LW mayweather is still even matchup.

But yes if we are talking prime duran at LW against soon 37years old shot to **** mayweather i give definetly edge to duran.

At LW I would favor Duran significantly. At WW I favor Floyd but not by as much.

 

Well if you have no plan of attack and just relied on power than sure but like I said neither of them were the boxer Duran was ..I don't see Floyd being able to keep Duran off him..Compared to Duran they were puppies .

Floyd boxing iq is probably best ever,move and potshot could lead floyd to win,don't be blind and bet your house to duran.defination of 50/50 matchup.

Floyd is faster,better footwork,better defence,incredible stamina,and one of the most accurate boxers,nevermind boxing IQ

Floyd is very capable of beating duran.

Duran is excellent in all of those areas,but not in floyd's level. I give duran edge in punch output and ferocity.leveling the game to pure 50/50 matchup.
Could floyd move all 15rounds and be active enough?could duran catch floyd,or be active enough and don't get stuck chasing floyd..not a walk in the park to either of these fighters.

You know damn well floyd always slow their opponents shot output,and that's the way to victory for floyd.duran have to trap floyd against the ropes and do damage there and slow floyd to have a chance to pick him apart,not easy task for either fighter.

 

Thank you, I'm only 24. Yeah Floyd would have a better chance at welterweight but the margins are slim.
