As good as Duran was, Whitaker isn't getting KO'd here.

I like Duran more but Pete was great - his skillset was elite and he's at risk of getting knocked down due to the crossing of the feet, but he gets up.

Duran will have his own troubles with the sharpness of Whitaker's jab, his underrated inside game, punch output and angles.

This match up would not be a blowout.

I actually like Duran more than I like Pete, but Pete was a special fighter - not sure why anybody would want to deny this. What does coke have to do with his LW ability? Are we going to discredit Ali for his vile rhetoric at times? SRR for beating up his wife? Tyson for being Tyson? Floyd for beating up his missus?

Judge the fighter's ability by who they beat, what they demonstrated in the ring and whether they fought the best available to them.

There is nothing in his career to suggest that Duran KOs Pete and Pete would give him angles and workrate that Duran would have to overcome. I don't doubt that he could overcome them, but Pete's chin was proven, even when he was coked out taking bombs from Tito.
