Then again who did stop those guys (aside from Basora who was a middleweight and KO'd in 1 in a rematch). He did stop Zivic though and bounced Angott around. Armstrong he carried and Gavilan, well he had an anvil chin.

Do you want to address the fact that Ray at 147 beat a midddleweight Jake 3 times ,or just ignore it?:patsch

Well, we know your thoughts on the matchups with Gavilan, and I don't necessarily dispute them, not fully, anyway. It's a well known fact that Robinson was never at his best in the clinches, though. That's nothing to do with fight reports, that's to do with actual footage.

I'm having trouble accessing certain reports right now in the Google Archives, but didn't Robinson mention either Zivic or Angott as one of his toughest challenges? Wasn't it mentioned in the reports that Robinson had particular troubles in the clinch? Senya13 posted them in the past, although I can't find them on his blog spot at the moment.

I'm not saying any of them were easily stoppable or anything, I'm saying Robinson was usually troubled by these types more so than others, and it's there for all to see on film that without space to unload he isn't much of an in-fighter. Duran was better than any of these guys at exploiting these kinds of weaknesses.

What?! :patsch Robinson was better at welterweight than at middleweight. He would have beaten Duran at any weight and that is saying something, as I rate Duran as a top ten pound for pound fighter of all time.

Duran is no question one of the best to step into the ring, But there is no chance he beats Robinson at any weight. They don't call him the greatest ever for no reason.

On Duran's best night he has a 40% or lower chance. Any other night Robinson takes it in one hell of a fight.

Robinson beats Duran by convincing UD at WW.... he kicks the living **** out of & stops Duran at MW.

Robinson is too much for Duran at any weight.

Duran was outstanding in both the Palomino & Leonard fights at WW but Robinson was a better fighter than both of those guys, especially Carlos Palomino.

Robinson is bigger, faster, hits harder & overall just better than Duran... I`m a big Duran fan, he is about 5th or 6th in my p4p list but this **** is exactly what people mean when they say Duran gets overrated on here.

Now we have him beating the consensus best p4p fighter of all time in his best weight class were he never lost in over 100 fights, get a grip people.

  13. Robinson by knock out, clean knock out for the count.

    That's what I thought.
My mistake, I initally thought you wanted a serious ,objective discussion.Instead of an opportunity for.

that was Leonard's call not Duran's. Duran lost to Benitez near the same weight and to Hearns. The overrating of Duran is sort of ridiculous. There has to be facts that he could beat guys like SRR, not that he beat Ray in one fight, yet lost the next two. Who did Duran beat ever which shows he could beat SRR? He beat Ray in a close fight when Ray fought his fight. Ray moves in the next fight and outclasses Duran.
