It was not about Duran, it was about his opponent. He lost to Benitez and Hearns and beat Moore and Barkley. That shows the level he could beat and the level he could not.
Duran s going to find this such a hard fight to win .Unless he storm's in to him from the first till the last second and doesn't give Wright a breather. But I believe it'll be winky gets a close decision win .
Winky 9-3 decision.duran much slicker than Trinidad but he doesnt have the size to back winky up he would spend too much time avoiding the jab and would be reduced to trying to getting Inside, flurrying and then turning winky a couple of times a round. He doesn't have the speed to score from the outside, nor the workrate to keep winky in a shell, nor the size to just bust him up. Winky has a solid chin also
Duran. Winky another overrated fighter who used that high guard an jab to frustrate opponents. That's all he had. Duran had too many tools to get around that.
Duran did not beat Hearns. Which would have been significant. He lacks wins over great fighters. No matter what. I say this in light of the fact people say he is top 10 ATG..
Saying Duran was a lightweight is like saying Hearns is a welterweight. People move up in weight, and Duran fought something like 50 fights outside the lightweight limit.
Something I have said for years.. Not really idiotic if you look at ranking and what should rank an all time great fighter.
Well if you don't consider Duran an ATG then what exactly is your criteria? And please don't tell me you have Pernell Whittaker above him.
