    Lets say at 154.

Duran at his best there, the version that fought Moore.

Use whatever 154 Winky you feel was him in peak form.

Surprised at you making a Duran thread when you are usually the first to complain about overdone stuff.;)

Anyway, i think Winky would be a bad matchup.Duran is just a solid sneaky puncher at 154 and over, not someone who is likely to hurt Winky. It's possible he could outslick him and counter through the guard for stretches, but Duran doesn't have WRight's punch output here.

I think Winky just keeps pecking away with his jab and uses his strength advantage to keep things from getting away from him inside, taking a close decision.Winky doesn't have much flair or unpredictablity, but he's tough, steady and accurate.

It's possible i'm underestimating Duran's defence and infighting ability at the weight though. It wouldn't shock me if he pulled it off, he may end up being the one to get to grips with the others offensive style and pull away at the end like he did with Barkley.I'll go with the steadier fighter here however.

Difference is, 1 out of 100 of my contributions include Duran. 95 out of 100 posts from other people revolve around Duran sausage fests.

My Duran discussion is a bit more diluted. :verysad:lol:

I just wait for the first one to pick Duran. As good as he was, the compination of punch-output + defense wins Winky the fight.

I like Winky by close dec,he won't hurt Duran ,neither will he allow Duran to hurt him,his arms take most of the punches and he smothers what he can't block.Wright is stronger than people think, and knows how to mess you around.
Duran could pull off a win ,but I go for Winky here.

    Good matchup by the way.

Well it's hardly a crime to pick Duran winning closely.Duran was a better fighter still than the guys Wright lost close decisions with imo, though i think he would do better against someone like Vargas than he would with Wright.

What a great way to start the day watching the MASTER at work:happy

Name me one other fighter at 147 that could chase & smack Leonard all over the ring like DURAN did:lol:

I'm surprised by the use a Davey Moore as an example of Duran. Moore was in his 12th or 13th pro fight, and the people who put him in the ring with Duran should have all had their peckers cut off. It was a disgusting and criminal act.

Anyway, I'll go with the majority here, and say Winky grinds out a rather uneventful decision.

Least we forget that everyone thought Duran was now just a washed up fat pug especialy after the Laing & Batten fights & Cuevas was viewed as damaged goods & Duran was an obvious 4/1 dog on the night.

A 32 yr old Duran looked a good scalp for Davey's resume, but Bob Arum & Teddy Brenner knew better in the fact that Duran just needed motivation & a 2nd chance & poor Davey Moore ends up getting beat to a living pulp..........The ref was a shocker:smoke

Moore had been in with tough opposition early on and had beaten several top contenders (Kalule, Weir, Guiden, Mihara). He was not the average 13 fight pro and was probably top 3 or atleast top 5 in the division. A year after losing to Duran, he beat the far more experienced Wilfred Benitez.

    Correct:yep

He was being touted as the new up & coming Sugar Ray Leonard, i think he was 4 x Golden Gloves champion & you did'nt win a title back then & defend it by fluke seeing there was just the 2 governing bodies in the WBC/WBA meant both top 10's would be stacked with tough fights from up & commer's & seasoned vet's. Moore was the star of the future until that brutal night on the 16th June 1983.
