Guy Jutras, Yusaku Yoshida, Ove Ovesen, Hal Miller, Lou Tabat and Dave Moretti should've been banned for life, or at least suspended or drug-tested.

    That is all.

I thought he lost both fights clearly.

Duran lost to Benitez on the cards by a combined total of 8 points by the three judges. Losing by eight points on one card is more fair, and probably generous to the Hands of Stone.

Duran lost to Hagler on the cards by a combined total of 4 points by the three judges. Having Duran lose by 4 points on one card is also generous to Duran.

    These were my cards.

    147-138 Benitez
    146-140 Hagler

You had to dig that far back to find bizzare scoring?

I saw Duran-Hagler when I was alot younger. Rooting for Duran, I was disappointed with the action and the outcome. I realize now that Duran was biting off more than he can chew. After the fight I believe Merchant interviewed Hagler who said that he was just showing respect to Duran. In other words, he didn't want to knock out the legend. Afterall, Duran gave him his biggest payday at that point in his career.

Bob Arum was the matchmaker....and got 2 of the biggest names together.

Duran was able to put up a decent fight...and Hagler boxed with
    "respect".

    $$$$$ for all parties concerned.

I watched Benitez-Duran the other day and was reminded of how bad those judges were, along with the judges in Hagler-Duran.

Also, I read Duran's bio a little while back and was skimming thru it again.

A lot of money, and a chance to win another title in yet another division.

Duran (his manager Carlos Eleta is another story) never shied away from an opponent.

I am probably in small minority but I thought Duran dropped a close decision to Hagler. I had Hagler up by about a point as he won the 15th round. I thought that Duran made him miss with a lot of punches and was able to land his right consistently throughtout the fight. On the other side Hagler was somewhat outworking him.

I never saw the Benitez/Duran fight.
