The proposed fight between Michael Katsidis and Robert Guerrero on March 5 in Anaheim, Calif., is off because of the devastating floods in Katsidis native Australia. Schaefer said he and HBO officials are discussing possible replacement fights for March 5. Golden Boy is pushing for a junior lightweight bout between Jason Litzau and Adriene Broner. _________________________ ****!!!!!!!!
So Katsidis can train through his brothers death and funeral but he cant train because of a flood? I thought he trains in the phillipines also. Basically it sounds like a duck. Guerrero is not well known and is probably the best LW in the world next to JMM. I actually think thats the guy that will eventually rule the division. Katsidis knows its too dangerous being that he is not worth the reward.
JMM was a big name and money fight so of course he was gonna take it. Casamayor was supposed to be his coming out party. Fighting a big name on HBO. Diaz was supposed to put him back on the map after getting a beating from Casamayor. He had nothing to lose in those 3 fights. Now he loses to Guerrero thats 2 consecutive loses and basiclaly losing to every top fighter he faced in the LW division. Yea its a good reason to duck.
Dude...I agree with you, Guerrero is the real deal, and with the situation with his wife this dude has this aggression/anger in him that is scary in some ways. Katsidis can't afford to lose this fight, but probably will lose this fight, hence him bowing out. I agree Guerrero rules the division sooner rather than later.
I'm a big Ghost fan and agree he would have likely outboxed Katsidis comfortably, but...why the hate (or at least extreme lack of sensitivity) toward one of the sport's most likable figures? :huh
I think hes had enough. Imagine your brother dying and then getting stopped by Marques in a one sided fight.
I admit I'm not the biggest Katsidis fan, but I don't hate on the dude or anything, I just think this is a bit of a cop out in terms of this fight. I do think helmet and all that is gay, but I can live with it. Maybe he isn't ready, maybe there are other issues, but I just don't really buy the flood stuff...just my opinion. I really just want Guerrero to get his opportunity and this was a big fight for him, so it's a bit dissappointing in that respect.
