    Very interesting!

Two guys who just aren't complete enough to be championship material, for different reasons (Smith his streak of laziness, Garcia his abysmal hand speed) but who also have upside as formidable contenders or gatekeepers (Smith his natural boxing talent, Garcia his bone crushing power).

    :think

Will Smith have another lackluster mentally-checked-out night and wind up getting KTFO...or will Garcia have his ears boxed off?

LOL....i like da way u commented on that ! I haven't seen Smith fight that much last time I was him he got beat by Cintron and didn't look like a very good boxer, it looked like he tried to fight Cintron n da middle of ring. If he fight like that again Garcia like knock his head off, not even Margarito wanted to stand n trade with Garcia. He must be a strong Ma fuka !! either way shud be a good fight.

Antwone Smith (21-3-1 (12)) takes on Robert Garcia (30-3 (21)) in a potentially evenly contested, yet rather uninspiring main event on Friday Night Fights this weekend from Texas. Smith is 25 years old, he is rated at just 50th overall by boxrec.com, and while all three of his defeats have come against respectable opposition (Ed Paredes, Lanardo Tyner, and Kermit Cintron), he is a long way from joining the ranks of the welterweight elite. He stands right in front of you, gives little movement, and bangs it out like a heavyweight trapped in a 147-pound frame. The good news is that Garcia won’t have to look too hard to find Smith, and if he can manage to stay active on the offensive end, then there is potential for an entertaining fight to develop. This is not the most scintillating matchup that could have been made by any means, but I am hopeful that there will be enough exchanges to make watching worthwhile, and I think Garcia’s pressure, and the support of his hometown crowd, will enable him to get the win in a close, but mostly apathetic encounter.

    (Garcia by close decision)

On Friday at the Convention Center in Pharr, Texas - super welterweight contender Antwone Smith 21-3-1 (12 KO's) and the Mexican Roberto García 30-3-0 (21 KO's) will clash in a ten round bout. The event will be transmitted by ESPN, as part their Friday Night Fights series. The fight will be presented as the co-main event to Tyrone Brunson vs. James De La Rosa.

Roberto Garcia spoke with us and said - "this fight is important for both of us, because the winner will be in a better position in the rankings and we are focused to get the victory. Smith is strong and our target is to be in the best physical condition for this fight and to offer the best of myself to get the victory ”

He also added - “I am doing very well and haven’t had any problems with the weight. We are only one pound over the weight limit and we have the rest of the week to reduce the excess. Our training camp has been very good. The sparring sessions have given us the power and stámina to arrive in excellent condition.”

“It will be a tough fight; we are ready to rise to the occassion. We believe the fans are going to win, because Antwone is a worthy opponent and surely he will also attempt to secure the victory at all times."

Antwone Smith has been training hard in the Jorge Rubio GYM in Hialeah, Floirda and reports indicate Smith is beaming with confidence. Last November in Miami, Smith defeated Yoryi Estrella with an eight round unanimous decision and he's ready to reclaim at top position in the world ratings.
