Germans absolutely LOVE this kid. (Haxhi Krasniqi) Twitter is blowing up with support for him en Deutsch - stuff like "come on, you can do it", heart emojis, etc. He isn't even a natural German, either - he and cousin Luan are both naturalized imports from Kosovo - but he is among the most popular boxers in the entire country that aren't world class. Maybe the most. I'm not exactly sure why. The way he fights is moderately exciting at times, but he is never really in FOTY contenders. They just really love rooting for him, maybe because of his prevalence for getting dragged into extremely close s****s with unpredictable outcomes, making for guaranteed drama? :conf Or they just admire the kid's heart, which he does have plenty of (if not talent)
Round 11 Krasniqi is flinging himself inside, through Sek's quick, accurate, powerless right jab. Krasniqi is forcing an inside fight. Krasniqi works uppercuts in the clinch, many just scrubbing the arms of Sek or getting deflected or washed out, but some connecting on legal scoring areas (primarily body, a few grazing the chin). Sek is flurrying to get free and back out to his desired range but Krasniqi stays with him and sprays punches, missing a bunch but always getting in at least one, ie an entire 1-2-1-2 not reaching but the last left hook does clip Sek on the jaw as he steps back. 10-9 Krasniqi 105-104 Krasniqi
Round 12 Krasniqi is dropping rights on the body, staying in the strike zone. Sek is throwing right hooks and left uppercuts, swiveling at the hip to gain leverage, doing everything he can to dissuade Krasniqi, to no avail. Krasniqi keeps the pressure on, smothering and then bashing at Sek by turns depending on the waning or waxing of his 2nd wind. 10-9 Krasniqi 115-113 Krasniqi
...so, yeah...the 11th and 12th just now - that's why he is well-liked and capable of selling tickets like hotcakes despite being mediocre. :respect
It almost causes you to wonder if he does this on purpose - like if he could actually be, maybe not world, but a European title contender or something - a higher plane than he seems to be on, but just "point shaves" in a manner of speaking, making his fights closer than what they need to be and fighting down to his opponent's level for stretches, in order to cultivate this lucrative "pull it out by the skin of his teeth" image and maintain his niche. :think ...and the Illuminati are behind it all, man!! :nut
Official cards: Juan Manuel Garcia Reyes 115-113 Matteo Montella 116-112 Jan Christensen 116 112 UD for Robin Krasniqi
Krasniqi reminds me of somebody. I was thinking maybe Rupert Friend (plays the spook Peter Quinn on Homeland on Showtime) but - only kinda. There's somebody else he looks even more like. :think Can't place it.
OH DAMN! I didn't even realize the implications of this before...just read that Krasniqi with this W becomes the mandatory challenger to Jürgen Brähmer. That will be huge over there. Krasniqi will get badly outclassed, but it will be a career payday for him anyway.
I mean, Tamayo is "only" a 21/4 underdog against Cuellar... Liakhovich over Ruiz Jr. though, is 12/1. Martin over Russell the same. Both of the Arroyo bros 1/10 faves or more. Anthony Peterson 1/100 over Hector Velázquez. :rofl (two day replacement for Yakubu Amidu, who already was a big underdog...and this is the same Velázquez that got knocked out by Pacquiao nearly a decade ago...then got his fifteen minutes of fame the next year beating Pac's brother via DQ while BobPac was up on the cards and had been systematically beating Velázquez up before pulling a Golota) Bryan Vasquez, though, is priced 4/9 and Sergio Thompson at 2/1, so that's reasonable... I might put that up. :think
