Round 6

Barking hook clusters by Simčič. Adamek has his spine arched and is bent slightly forward, arms folded in front of his face to block the assaults. Adamek rolls out a few left jabs but is otherwise not giving Simčič many openings. Here's a long jab and a right hand to the eyebrow by Adamek after taking a step back. Simčič is still focusing most of his attacks up top, head hunting with those high chops usually thrown 2 or 3 at a time. A few body shots by Simčič. Not much body work anymore by Adamek, who was having success with it early. Long flurry by Simčič, "ai-ai-ai-ai-AH!". There's a couple of hooks to the body by Adamek. Stiff jab to the bridge of the nose by Simčič. Adamek is now coming forward and jabbing while Simčič backs up and uses head movement.

Uh oh.

Simčič is HEAVING on his stool. He seems like he's about to either puke or pass out.

He's well ahead on my card (and seemingly everybody else's...and probably the official judges'...) but at what cost?

Could he gas badly enough in rounds 7-10 to open the door to being stopped even by the relatively light hitting Adamek? :think

 

Round 7

Hard high jab by Simčič. Big flurry by Simčič, not really landing but helping push him ahead on work rate. A few slapping hooks by Adamek, blocked. Simčič throws a three punch straight combo, getting a piece with one shot but missing the other two as Adamek steps and leans back. Simčič is ducking and swaying to either side at range as they circle, looking to come at Adamek from different angles with his high power flurries and body shots. Adamek keeps pumping his long left jab but Simčič is using his shortness (especially while ducking) and the distance to make it difficult to catch him with it. Flurry by Simčič stepping in before getting back outside, hunkering low. Adamek misses badly with a right hand.

Had Beltran up going into the last round.

 

Yep. Surprised he was so active, with how bad he'd been wheezing.

 

Round 8

Simčič keeps attacking high, with Adamek slapping around wide with hooks. Simčič using movement and high jabs, a few body shots.

79-73 Simčič

 

Round 9

More of Simčič setting the pace, circling outside for spells and then charging in with hard combos of straight lefts and rights along with hooking body shots to try and fold Adamek up in the middle. Adamek is just hacking ineffectively now with the phantom of that once snappy left hook from outside. Simčič is force-feeding him some stiff high jabs as Adamek comes forward. Weird role reversal in the second half of this fight, with Adamek coming forward despite not really having anything to pressure Simčič with.

89-82 Simčič

 

Adamek stands in his corner instead of sitting. He might have a bloody nose from those jabs as they're pinching it and tugging on it. He is trying to breathe and get a drink of water. He has his arms up crossed behind his head while leaning back against the turnbuckle.
