robin reid sven ottke rd 6-7

He was robbed jobbed whatever way you wanna put it. He boxed a great fight that night and the ref in every round was playing up....it was just blatant what was going on...i'm actually fuming watching it back. Gotta love Duke...on the mic

 

To this day I can't believe that Ottke and the corrupt Germans were allowed to get away with this and that there wasn't an investigation afterwards.

Its bad enough getting jobbed but to not even get a rematch ordered was ridiculous.

 

I think I scored this fight level, or one to Ottke, but I can't remember whether or not I allowed for the ridiculous officiating. Knowing that a knockdown wasn't given and a point deduction. I presume I must have accounted of it if I had Ottke winning.

I do remember that Ottke came back into the fight in the later rounds. Psychologically Reid must have resigned himself by that stage.

Huge credit to Reid for his professionalism. I am not sure I would have had the same discipline.

thats german boxing for ya, he won by UD, it doesnt matter if judges are from italy,usa,uk, iraq or whatever some cash under the table will sort that out.

 

IMHO that was down to the ref, not the judges. If a ref doesn't call a knockdown or deducts a point the judges HAVE to do the same.

EDIT: although looking at the scores at least one of the judges forgot his specs....;O)

 

13th december 2003. I'll always remember this fight, not because it was a classic or ecause of the **** poor decision, but my third daughter had just been born 4 hours earlier. Me and my old man were sat watching this debacle eating fish and chips, I told him that Reid would have to stop him to win...shocking performance from both the ref and judges

 

:roll: Do some research. Countless well known fighters have gotten the decision in Germany.

The bent ref for Ottke-Reid wasn't German either.
