A super middle clash of the Brits . Both reigned as WBC Champs in the 90 s .
Benn surely coming in as a big favorite , but could the Grim Reaper have the style to beat him .?
I don't see this as being a easy fight for the Dark Destroyer
    12 round s ?

    Pretty good matchup here.

I just looked at those Malinga fights and could not comprehend why Nigel had such a tough time with that style.
i think Reid has the style--and the whiskers--to take over the second half of the fight. And the parachute opens for Benn and the ref waves it off like in the 10th or 11th round. Entertaining scrap

He really struggled with sugar Boy , did Benn, both fights. I watched the first and had Sugar just winning, think that was one of his comeback fights after Eubank?
But any way, Reid had a decent set of whiskers on him and could box a little, so yes, it could be a loss for Nigel. Not that you can ever count out the Dark Destroyer.

Didn't Reid, in his prime, lose to a 40-something Malinga?

Think he did, but Sugar Boy was a very akward guy to fight tbh. He also gave Eubank a tough time as well.
Mind you, he was no match for RJJ!

Malinga was a fairly solid contender, a brief titlist and seemingly ageless.

It is alleged that Benn took his training lightly, when he fought him the first time. Their second encounter, several years later, signaled the beginning of the end for Benn's meaningful career.

There's not a lot in it between Benn and Reid, in my view. However, I think Benn, on his best day at 168, would be able to edge the Grim Reaper. They each had different mentalities and styles. Benn was an out and out warrior, who would have to go looking for Reid and I think he'd find him. Wharton managed to close the gap against Reid and he brought half the pressure Benn would have.

In my opinion, Reid could become jaded under pressure. Although, he carried an all-round skillset, was clever on the counter and was very accurate, and I can see Benn having to turn this into a brawl - he wouldn't want to be giving Reid any room.

Good post. Yes I can see Benn trying to get In close and cause a brawl, he was at his best like that imo. And nobody in there right mind wanted a tear up with Nige!
