    Now imagine Kessler vs JC

If you seen the Robin Reid and JC fight then you know what I'm talking about

Ha ha - IF people get what you're implying (and I can assure you that 99% of posters outside the UK certainly won't), then the people that do understand will ridicule you. It would help if you explained yourself.

    The counter-arguements:
    • Calzaghe had a broken hand in this fight
    • Reid was in his prime
    • Calzaghe has matured into a boxer twice as good as he was for the Reid fight
    • Calzaghe underestimated Reid after schooling him in the amateurs
    • Calzaghe/Reid was personal; they hated each other... there's no such tension with Kessler

I think it was pretty clear what he was implying and I'm not from the UK.;) I don't agree with him though.

Oh you forgot one counter argument the most used actually.
    • Reid threw straight rights, Kessler doesn't.

Even if Kessler lands the right:

    a) Joe's chin is solid enough to take it - I'd be staggered if Kessler can do what much bigger punchers have failed to do in the past when they've landed flush.
    b) Joe Calzaghe is not Librado Andrade - he won't stand still and take shot after shot with his chin hanging in the air
    c) Joe will get pissed off and go mental, finishing the fight early, thus discrediting the quality of a "green" Kessler.

It's within everyone's best interests that Mikkel doesn't land it.

Oh for sure hes going to manage to hit him with it. Its boxing after all. The thing is hes not going to connect very often at all with the right hand, and when he does Calzaghe has demonstrated a decent level of punch resistance. Kessler is probably only above average in the power department anyway.

Im still standing well behind my prediction of a pretty 1 sided Calzaghe victory for about 8 rounds, then Kessler begins to gas and finally gets taken out in the 10th as hes too knackered to get back up off his arse.

I think the left jab knocked
    This content is protected
Beyer out cold. The straight right just pushed him onto the canvas a bit.

Joe getting pissed is exactly what I'm hoping for in this fight.

I assumed he was being sarcastic.

The right hand is a decent weapon if he can land the jab at will. I can't see this happening on a regular basis against this Calzaghe guy.

What I meant was Kessler doesn't throw the straight right as a single punch very often. He throws it after a jab. And as POW has pointed out I was being partly sarcastic, but there are a lot of truth to it I have to admit. I'd wish Kessler would throw the straight right without the jab more often.

Kessler's punches are like Mork & Mindy: you can't imagine one without the other... the straight right doesn't exist without the left jab.

A few people did. Nobody disputes it was the closest fight Joe's been involved with but I had Joe by 2 rounds. I can just about see you giving it to Reid if you're determined to see Calzaghe lose but it was close nonetheless.

It's often the case that when a fighter has a close fight after dominating all of his previous opponents alot of people will score against him. Mayweather/Castillo I is a perfect example.

reid was leading with his rights, kessler needs the jab to set them up, big difference. if joe takes away the jab, then kessler is in for a painful night.
